Just because one team overpaid doesn't mean the expectation should be everyone should now. Two 2nds for Lack would be an outstanding get in a deep draft for defensemen. - LeftCoaster
That's the goalie market, Ottawa just set it, I'd be pissed if JB didn't at least get a mid to late first for Lack or mid-to-late 2nd for Markstrom. |

Lehner is 23 and controllable for 3-4 years and upside is still pretty high. Lack is more of a known commodity, but he's 1 year away from UFA and getting a big pay increase.
I think Buffalo overpaid, but having a young goalie to grow with their team makes more sense then dealing for one that is UFA after this year |

I think you'll be pissed then. There are only so many stupid gms in the league, and Buffalo already made their move. |

Markstrom's not due for an increase and certainly wouldn't have cost Buffalo the 21st... wow. |

I love Markstrom's potential, but Lehner is way more proven at the NHL level than him, Buffalo IMO wanted a somewhat proven young guy....they got that in Lehner. |

Then I'd rather JB keep Lack and Markstrom and try and dump Miller at the TDL at this point. Lehner and Legwand for the 21st, that's nuts, and people said WE were overvaluing Lack for the 31st. |

Not me.
If Werenski is still available at 9 JB will get a deal done. |

15 teams, wtf man. He probably listed every team that made the playoffs last year. |

And ironically, it was mostly Buffalo fans that were telling us that. |

It'd be even more ironic if they come in here and try and sell us on Lehner being that much better than Lack. |

If JB moves up to #9 i'm guessing he targets barzal. The difference between Werenski and some of the other D that would be available at 23 isn't that great IMO |

If he gets #9, it's likely Provorov, Barzal will be gone long before 9 |

Highly doubt we're getting a 9th pick for KB unless we are giving up a high level prospect, something that Benning has said he isn't willing to do. |

The only way they could keep all 3 would be sending Miller to the minors, as the other two wouldnt make it through waivers, in that case you would get a terrible return at the TDL because Miller would have been out of the NHL for 5 months. That would be Gillis all over again, just pull the trigger on a 2nd rounder and move on |

So Miller would clear waivers, but we could trade him at the TDL??? |

Over the course of a season, anybody could be traded for the right situations/price. I dont think at the start of the season anyone would take him and his contract, no guarentees of either but it would be your best shot at keeping all three as per his scenario |

Markstrom is an RFA, he won't re-sign in Vancouver if both Lack & Miller are still here. Which means you lose him for nothing to Europe, that's poor asset management. |

Here is the Master Plan:
1. Bieska and Markstrom to San Jose for 9th round pick.
2. 9th round pick plus Virtenen and Burrows to Phoenix for #3 pick and 6th pick.
3. Order 100 pizza and have them delivered to Brian Burke.
4. 6th pick to Boston for permission to talk with Lucic
5. Lucic signed an extension using the money saved from Burrows.
6. Use top 3 pick for a D man to replace Bieska.
Open a bud-light lime while eating nachos on a patio listening to Bruce Cockburn.
Done. |
