Only if they have someone targeted - VANTEL
Exactly. They'd have to really have their eye on a guy they are high on. Those are the kinds of deals that happen in real time on the draft floor right before the pick is made. |

He did just get his team to game 7 of the SCF against perhaps the best team of recent times.
anyway, Maclean is a good coach who would be an improvement over a number of NHL head coaches IMO. - AlexF

3 week old news - VANTEL
Yup. I just think it's funny... Hiring Paul MacLean is more of a DaFuq ... Guess they don't want him coming in cold. |

Grimace and Dion need to be dealt soon if they are going to get Fla and Ariiz first round picks in a trade |

Yes but it's a very well done production. First season was outstanding...haven't seen the second yet... - LordHumungous
First season was outstanding. Onto first episode of second season. Crazy how it goes to completely new characters. |

Beleskey gets more than Ward IMO - Nucker101
So you think Beleskey is going to be in that $5.5-6 / year group? If he gets anything north of $5 then we are in for another work stoppage accordingly
The guy has scored 47 goals since 2010! and the majority of those goals were scored last year (22 I believe). So, one 20 goal season and he wants numbers that were just recently equivalent to a 20-30 goal guy (per season, that is). That is truly whacked
P.S. and here we had people sh*tting about Alex Burrows and his $4.5 million cap hit ($18 million over 4 years) Who would you rather have? (let's just say for the next two years, which is what I feel Burrows has left in terms of very good production/play and that is also coincidentally when his contract expires) Burrows, Ward, or Beleskey? to me it's a no brainer in Burrows but what do you think? |

Beleskey hands down, he has upside still theoretically, Burrows will never score more than 10 to 15 goals again. I'll take a 6 mil in his prime 20+ goal scorer than an over the hill declining Alex Burrows at 4mil |

If Beleskey refused $4 million, what makes you think he'll sign for only an additional $500k? it seems to me like he's shooting for the moon (and obviously his agent is on board with this, so they feel it's realistic). 20 @#$#@$ goals and only around 50 in the last five years. That is just absurd |

Good grief, he's only had ONE twenty goal season and that was last year! he's scored around 50 goals since 2010. That is NOT a twenty goal scorer. He's had a chance to establish himself as one for some time now, it's not like he suddenly turned into Crosby, for feck sakes
Just a quick breakdown - his cap hit was $1.4 million the past few years and he is now looking at $5 million+ based on ONE, yes ONE, season which he scored 20 goals. That would be a a 400% increase!! |

Sorry I thought you meant if they were all paid the same. I would still take Beleskey |

I would at least do a 'bridge' type deal. What he's asking for is extremely unreasonable (but if it comes to fruition I will not be surprised at all - it will just underscore the insanity that is free-agent season)
Don't get me wrong. I think Beleskey is a decent enough player (he's versatile which I feel is a huge component of his game), but asking for essentially Sedin type money is ridiculous |

Just looked at the Canucks schedule for next season. I will be boycotting the home game on HNIC @ 4:00pm local time as the Toronto Maple Leafs visit on Sat. Feb. 13. - Marwood

Again, playing with Kesler for the most part who's the ultimate puck hog and still scored 20 goals., I'd take him for 6mil and put him with Horvat and Baertschi. |

I wouldn't sign MB at 6 but I still think he would give you better value than Burrows. I personally would rather LUcic at 6 mil and let the others walk |

On this date in 2010, #Canucks traded Steve Bernier, Michael Grabner & 1st rd pick to #FLAPanthers for Keith Ballard & Victor Oreskovich.

Not sure which is worse - Canucks trading a future 20 goal guy or Florida putting him immediately on waivers lol |

I agree. The only player that is apparently available and who I would (reluctantly) pay that kind of money to would be Lucic. There is no way I'm signing Beleskey for more than $4 to $4.5 and even that is pushing it (and the same goes for Ward) The really troubling aspect is, that his agent seemingly thinks it's a feasible and reasonable contract request - and worse, that there might just be someone out there that gives him the kind of money he's looking for |

TSN: Darren Dreger reports there’s a good chance Phil Kessel remains with the Toronto Maple Leafs. There really isn’t a lot of activity regarding efforts to move him. Bob McKenzie adds if they can trade Kessel, Dion Phaneuf, Tyler Bozak and others for quality returns, they will. However, McKenzie hasn’t heard Phaneuf’s name out there “at all.” He also gets the sense the Leafs might be aggressive in the UFA market as they could consider a hybrid rebuild rather than a total teardown.
Nobody wants the Leafs' players at their salaries. If Shanny wants a decent return he better expect to keep a few million on each contract. |
