Benning is very different from Gillis in many ways, one of those seems to be that he prefers to get a deal done when he gets one he likes instead of holding out in hopes of getting even more like Gillis apparently did. So if Edmonton offers the #33 pick before the draft, I'd be pretty shocked if Benning didn't accept it instead of waiting to see if Buffalo will offer #31 later on.

It would be just like Gillis to hold out til the 2nd round activates, then realize he has no one but 1 team to bargain with

Thanks for the history lesson of the past 2 years. But we do have the #1 prospect in all of hockey and the #1 rated prospect system as a whole in all of hockey....

we are coming out of our dark place.... you guys are just going into it. Have a nice flight.

We are for sure. That's why we need a proper return for Lack. I hope Talbot goes for a first and is off the market. Futhermore we won our last game of the season which cost us several draft spots in the first round because management didn't want to throw a mean nothing game.
- VanHockeyGuy

I will be very curious of the tearing down of Vancouver's team though... what the shell of the Sedin's will fetch on the market. Probably likely to what Iginla got being a late 1st rounder and a few mid level prospects.

We are not f'n Edmonton... LOL... look at our depth chart and prospects. They are not all just forwards who we threw on the ice at the age of 18 and said GOOD LUCK with no defense or goalie.

The mis-management of those stars in EDM will forever hinder those players futures in EDM or elsewhere later on.

Most people want a full rebuild with young players. Winning is not that important as long as they try every game and work hard.

I agree

You look at Chicago, and Toews said they were successful because they were able to get a taste of the playoffs early in their careers and it what drove them early one.

He said if they didn't have that they probably wouldn't have been so good.

Had never heard that. I'm interested to see what they have to do now. Sharp is expected to be traded in the coming days. Oduya is a UFA. It was said that they are 50/50 on trading Bickell now. Hossa can still ball but might be trade bait or bought out especially with Seabrooke now entering the final year of his contract and Saad being an RFA

On our garbage team last year... keep in mind that Neuvirth still had a .918 S%, Lindback had a .924 S%, and Enroth a .903 S% all while facing an average of 40 shots a night.

Artus Irbe is a hell of a goal coach. I have a lot of faith in him to coach Lack or whoever of our prospects might pan out.

Yep. Keep your picks, develop your prospects. Go UFA. I'm sure Lack will get a good return.

I truly believe the reason our goalies were so successful last year was the trap style hockey Ted Nolan had the team playing. A majority of the shots were coming from the perimeter.

Well it could be for #31 .....or package lack w #23 for #2?
- SMBDragon

No package including a goaltender with a late first is going to get you #2 overall (in this draft), not even if that goaltender was named Patrick Roy in his prime.

#31 or #33 is what it's gonna take, whoever offers it first will probably get him.

Agreed as well. Lack is good but IMO no goalie is worth pick #31 with the current state of the Sabres rebuild

Im thinking BUFF is valuing #31 as a 1st round pick. If you look at it that way the one in the 50's would be considered a 3rd rounder. Lots of overvaluing going on. Figure it out.

Ben Kuzma ‏@benkuzma ·
In possible swap for Lack, Trader Jim should press hard for 31st and 51st picks from Sabres, but make sure he lands No.31. Vital. #Canucks

Wow. JB, just get the best deal you can. don't accept a deal if you can get a better deal.... Accept the best deal, not the second best deal.

(frank) that. Trade him to EDM. SJ is still a possibility. Kusma knows squat.
Wont get two seconds for Lack.

- VanHockeyGuy

Was laughing at that tweet and myself.

Dying to see some trade action, some posts, tweets, stories, rumours... Kuzma comes out with a captain obvious tweet and I am happy there is a tweet except the tweet is like nfk.
