What is van cleared out some cap, send Vrbata to pits for sutter and there 3rd back, and offer sheeted hamilton for 7.3, would only cost a first second and third next year?
- phyllee

We would need to get our 3rd back. I believe NYI have it?

Sven can have three years at 5.4.
I'm a little disappointed they have not qualified Stanton yet. He's still young, was actually one of the more physical D we have. 11 points in 54 games. He would be a great cheap 6/7 D.

I think the picks need to be your original. So we would need to trade to get it back

You're correct they do need to be. Crazy to think about getting 4 first round picks for one player. Just think 2 years ago that if someone offer sheeted a canuck player and we got 4 first round picks. We could have Horvat, Shinkaruk, Virtanen, McCann. Then this year could use both first round picks to trade up to pick Hanifin or provorov. Next year do the same and trade up get Jacob whats his last name is from Sarnia. You would have the next dynasty.

Imagine they offer up 4 1st and finish in the bottom of the league for those 4 years?

5.4 for three years? The term is fine, but the money's a typo, right?

Probably means 5.4 over 3 years? so 1.8 mil a season? 3 years as well , that way when ti expires he is still RFA at 26 years old.

I don't understand the lovefest for Eddie Lack. I think he is a good goalie but not the player I want on my team. I personally see him more of a goofball then a serious teammate. If I was playing on the Canucks I would have also asked for a veteran goalie because as a professional athlete, I would take my job seriously and to see a goofball in the net horsing around in scrimmages and practices would piss me off.
Nucks have a lot of guys that take their stuff very seriously. KB, Hammer, Tanev, Higgins, Hansen, Sedins, Burr. Before you jump all over me hear me out. My issue with Lack and Nucks in general is the lack (no pun intended) off bite.
I am surprised Lou did not get pink eye from all of the time Buff had his ass in Lous face. And all Lou did was look at the ref with his puppy dog eyes. Look at history and you will see that all teams that won the cup had goalies that did not take crap. Marty Brodeur, if someone even bumps him it was guaranteed that player would be icing his ankles that night.
Lack, is too soft and has been under Lou's tutelage for too long. I like Miller not at the cap hit but he does not take crap. I like Markstrom because he also stands up for himself. I would prefer my team to not be a push over.
JB realized that in 1 month and made changes. Look at his draft. Virtanen, McCann, Cassels, Tyramkin, trades for Dorsete and Pedan.
I am okay losing games as long as we are standing our ground and not rolling over.
I am okay with Lack being moved and thus removing all traces of puppy dog eyes and hoping for a penalty routine. Give Markstrom 2 years under Miller and have him learn from Miller that he does not have to take crap from other teams. Getting bumped or crashing in the net accidently on purpose is not going to go without a hack or swing of the stick.
If a player stands up for himself his teammates will rally around him.
We just need to change this melo attitude.
I am all for Lucic trade. Trade Edler for Lucic. We need that Bertuzzi factor. Hit my player in the knees and I will end your career. ( a little extreme but effective) No team dared to mess with Canucks during those days. Had toughness all around the team. Now we have Dorsete.

I've seen a lot of different metrics used to assess the quality of a goaltender, but this is probably the first time I've seen "toughness"

Stanton should be qualified. I like his as a bottom pairing guy.

McMillan can walk. No need to take an extra spot away from an ECL.

Vey, Weber, and Baertschi will be qualified.

Googles Haiku...

Needed to say what I felt in words that many would undertand.

Haiku version below.

Lack too soft. Team soft. Trade Lack. Trade Edler for toughness. Team better. (said in Mr Miyagi voice)

Hey now, easy on Dorsett.

I don't think Lucic wants to play in Van. He'd hate it here. Fickle fans.

Hypothetically, if Benning somehow managed to trade up and get the #3, who would you guys select?

Marner or Hanifin..Marner is better IMO but Hanifin plays the more important position.
