An article written by Steve Simmonds actually worth reading

When you're picking from a group of 18 year old kids, it's no wonder that the draft is such a crap shoot.

No word on talks with Janick Weber yet. I would guess he is looking in the 3 mil range seeing he had the most goals of our D and Benning is thinking Screw You.

Would not be surprised if he is traded or Benning hoping for an offer sheet

Interesting articles by Yost and Cullen on probability of playing NHL games by draft position

For those who don't want 3rd and 4th liners then you don't want 2nd or 3rd round picks because those are the lines where the player will probably end up.

- bloatedmosquito

Johnny Gaudreau (4th), Jamie Benn(5th),Tyson Barrie(3rd), ROR(2nd), Adam Henrique(3rd), Nyquist (4th)
Never know in a draft what could happen depending on were drafted. The more picks the better chance of getting a game changing player

With the scouts Canucks had prospects could have been 40 year olds and a list of HHOF nominees and they would still find a way to screw it up.

My prediction leading up to Draft Day:

Lack to Buffalo for #31
- hold #23 n #31 picks
If Vrbata is moved its for a mid 1st i hope (#18 roughly)
- hold #18 #23 #31
Bieksa to CBJ for #33
- hold #18 #23 #31 #33

Assume JB wheels n deals the above who do we Draft?
Sweeteners could be included to get it done.
3-4 picks in rounds 1 & 2 depends on Vrbata moved.

Armchair Gm away

Decent offer . Do you think Edler wants to play in Arizona ? That could be Quebec City or Seattle the following year . Swedes usually like things that are more certain .

Otherwise decent offer

OEL and klas dalhbeck play there? bigger question is who do we pick? or do we become insane and then trade down to the 6th and pick up a young D from New jersey.
Say Adam Larsson and at 6 we pick up Lawson Crouse. He Would add size and awesomeness to the top 6 LW.

In trying to make a Mock for this draft. There are 3 players that I just don't know where they will go. Svechnikov, Gurianov, Konecky.

buf wont get him if not 31.

sj will probably offer their pick which is in 40's

edit SJ is #39

- Retinalz

Fair enough. I wouldn't trade 31 for him, but, that doesn't mean he's not worth it and I'm not the gm. I'd draft Samsonov at 21 and sign a FA stopgap for 3 years.

Oilers will probably take him at 16 knowing you want him at 21

Should Benning be trying to get the highest picks or as many picks as he can? one 20-30 pick or 2 2nd round picks?

That's what they say. Explain why everyone ranks him so high then?

I heard someone say once the reason why he is ranked so high is because "you don't see him do anything special during a game, you just see him do everything every shift". Something like that.

I think he's more of a bigger Callahan, with a bit of Rick Nash.

Buccigros is expecting Chirrelli to have an offer sheet ready for Dougie Hamilton for July 1 St.

I guess Bruins will take the 4 first rounders. Hockey is getting so crazy

That's a solid haul. I'd take 4 first for anyone. Including Crosby.

Because they have had so many firsts it could work for both teams
