Lack for #31 works for me.
Pick the best talent with speed n skill.
Depends on who drops n what #23 is.
We don't need 3rd liners or bottom pair D.
Go for a home run is best. |

27 years old 6x6 - VANTEL
Fair offer. Kind of like Chara or Big Buff, he does bring a unique skillset that's difficult to find. Plus the era of taking runs at the Sedins would instantly end if Lucic were on their line. |

I'd take Kylington with the #23 and a similar home run pick at #31. Swing for the fences. |

True, he's a natural LW though |

Feel better about Kylington with an early 2nd, Zboril/Roy/Juulsen are better picks IMO. |

There were big changes last season and you could see the shift. We havent even hit the draft yet let alone July 1st and training camp...
 - boonerbuck
I was responding to the logic of the previous post, not issuing my prognosis of the state of the union.
In saying that, the only "big change" I saw last season was in replacing Torts with WD. It's also a big change that almost anyone in Vancouver could have recommended. The rest, though progressive, were far more minor in impact. |

You're assuming they fall to #23. Zboril at least will be picked before then IMO. |

The beauty about dropping the gloves is that you generally square off at center ice. |

Juulsen is almost a lock to still be there. Zboril and Roy have a decent chance of being given before 23 though. |

yeah, I'd rather Lucic at 6/per

Are you sure it's Okposo? he does like to muck it up, from what I've seen (maybe not enough, though, for the franchise to sign him to any sort of significant deal) - Zogg
A Kassian type player. Can play physical but chooses not too for stretches of time. When he's in the mood, he's effective.
I'd keep the younger and very cheaper Kassian. I'd take Okposo for a reasonable salary but not giving up younger players for him at all.

He also added several pieces to our prospect system (Vey, Clendenning, Baertschi, Pedan) signed Miller (whatever you may think of him and his contract) and Vrbata (who scored 30 goals) and pushed WD to keep Horvat who outperformed any and all expectations for him.
There was big change, it just isn't the change you want (and was never going to happen because this isn't EA NHL '15 and deals aren't easy to make anymore) and that's fine, but given what he had to work with, and the directive he was under to stay competitive and make the playoffs while re-tooling, I think he's done fine.
I give him this off-season and next before I'll judge him more harshly, he needs a chance to let some of the NTCs expire or manage to convince them to move and get assets for them. I don't expect that he'll send them all packing in one or even two off-seasons/trade deadlines/etc. |

I'll take a 2nd for Lack any day. This is a deep draft.
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2003e.html
Look how many players from this draft taken in the 2nd round and beyond are still playing effectively in the league. That 2nd round pick could easily become our #3 Dman for a decade. |

I'd take Kylington in a heart beat if JB picks up a couple of 2nds. If not, I think I may want to play it safer with the gap in picks to follow.
I'd like Chabot to fall a few spots to be there for the Canucks. I dont think Zboril is in reach personally. I dont want Carlos.

I don't feel comfortable making Kylington our only D selected in the first round in a decade. Like you said maybe with a 2nd, but i'm certain there will be someone better available. |

His boy Benning and a coach who's rep is to be easy-going will probably help a bit, especially if Benning is prepared to offer him a phat contract. - Nucker101
One of the other sites was showing a Lucic Giants shift where he hits everything and then drops the gloves and wins a fight, I think it was against WD and he was coaching MedHat.
There are a few people on the Canucks with a Lucic history. What that means, I dunno. |

I feel much more confident that the 31st would land us a serviceable D than the 51st or any other late 2nd rounder but our club seems to be getting the hang of the scouting in the last couple of years so it's still a good return. I've been more or less spreading the same philosophy about trading Lack all day now.
Lack stops pucks. We have players that can stop pucks and can sign players who stop pucks. Again, signing a #1 opened up a window for future improvement though development both through the draft and time spent in the AHL for Markstrom. it's not all bad

I'd take Carlo if he free fell late into the 2nd or 3rd as our 2nd D grab... if we had a 3rd... but there will be some decent forwards still available if JB picks up one of their hopeful D selections in the 1st. I'd probably be looking at best player and looking hard at LW.

I might have missed this but are people really crying about trading Lack?
We need to trade a goalie, that much is clear. My only comment was I don't think the return will have a substantial impact on this organization now or in the future. The odds are against any 2nd making good but for sure the #31 in a deep draft is like a late 1st rounder so if the offer is there we should go for it. |

Seriously it's such a crapshoot as to who will be available. I'd take Roy if he's available, unless Svechnikov really drops. |

A rumor (whatever that's worth) has DET open to trading down from their 1st round pick (#19). If we were to acquire that #31, I wonder what we could throw in to convert it to that #19. |
