I've never been a fan of either but I think they would fetch some quality returns, especially if traded this summer (doubt it would happen, though) - Zogg
Carter would get a nice return, but this is a tough summer to be a seller. I remember when the Canucks were contenders and Paul Gaustad, Tim Gleason and Zenon Konopka were some of the top guys available.
This franchise has horrible luck |

See that is smart GMing trade pieces with high value that will start to decline , meanwhile Canucks have 23 untouchables - VANTEL
God forbid Burrows, Higgins, Bieksa though. Core. |

Good one on Twitter
"I'm not watching the #NHLAwards - did they present the Most too many men on the ice penalties Award to the Canucks yet?"

That's not true at all, only since Gillis came around has that been mentioned. Early 90's and 2000's the Canucks had good young teams. They weren't following under Quinn or Burke. |

Apparently DET is open to trading down in this draft and I'm sure would be interested in Carter to wing either the Dats or Zetterberg lines.
to DET: Carter, #43
to LA: Mantha, #19 |

During the first 2/3 Gillis years, the Canucks were leading the pack in embracing the pick possession style of game.
Basically it's impossible to "trend set" when you're core is declining. |

Hopefully between Friday and July 5th Benning can make the team younger and draft some skill. Teams needs a serious infusion of skill, especially on defence.
I can't under stand the people who want to take a step back for a few years of good drafting but they want to keep Lack because he's the better goaltender....that's counter to your argument isn't it?
Then there's the ones who want to get rid of Miller for cap space, to use on better players, but they wanna take a step back and get younger thru the draft as well....again counter to your stance???
We have a goaltender in Lack than can help us down the road via a draft pick, use that asset so you can be a contender in the future, because everyone else knows it ain't happening in the next three years. |

The thinking being, he just needs to get out from under the substantial shadows of Crosby and Malkin, to expand his offensive game. Perhaps a change of scenery would do that, as Sutter has shown in the past that he can put the puck in the net (20 goals for a shut-down centre is fairly impressive, considering very little PP time and always playing against the top lines of other teams). He was basically slotted into the checking centre role as soon as he came over from Carolina. Hence, it would actually be interesting to see what he can do on a team where he gets more offensive opportunities. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Vancouver, as long as we didn't have to give up anything overly significant (however, I think that Pittsburgh has much higher expectations with respect to the returns anticipated, so this might not even be a discussion starter - for now at least) |
