I like Lack over Miller, But I think Marky has the better upside after he gets the same chance in the NHL that Lack did.

I think Markstrom's ceiling is higher as well but my concern is him getting over the confidence hump at the beginning of his NHL career. If he gets past that quickly...which has been a concern, I think he'll be dynamite.

I would be semi-ecstatic if they moved Miller (even if they had to keep a bit of salary). Miller has been trending down the last few years and it's only going to get worse. The problem is, to what extent is his NTC? apparently it's a limited NTC but does anyone know precisely which teams are on that list? (other than Buffalo, I would imagine )

I would venture to guess his list of teams include all of them in California, and anything remotely close to Hollywood/California after that. Have to keep the wife happy.

But if we kept both Miller and Lack and slowly gave Lack more starts, maybe Miller would be more open to playing anywhere.

But I think all of this is moot because JB just loves having Miller in net. unless, we are back to, it is all a ruse put on by JB.

Back to Lack - it's strange that your gm is telling VAN fans to be prepared to not get as much of a return as you'd hoped. Even stranger in that it's not a good negotiations tool for teams trying to acquire him.

I think there's been a few comments about Benning's negotiating skills or lack thereof. I certainly hope he's not being completely transparent (I don't care if he lies to the media (frankly, whatever happened to the good ole stand-by of 'no comment' when dealing with sensitive questions associated with draft/management strategy) as long as it is part of the process and improves our chances of obtaining a quality pick or player).

please be a ruse, please be a ruse . I would be fine with that strategy - i.e. giving Lack more and more starts, which would hopefully dissuade Miller from thinking of staying on. But from all indications, as you noted, Miller seems to be Benning's buddy so it's safe to say Lack is essentially gone (I'm actually not big on the 31st pick but if that's what the market dictates then we're unfortunately stuck with that (unless those rumours of 2 second round picks for Talbot are true, in which case it will be interesting to see what the ole domino affect will have on the remaining goalie transactions). As seems to be the trend these past few years, the goalie market is once again unpredictable and fairly volatile and hence ultimately frustrating because of all of these new kids coming in and playing lights out (whoever heard of Hammond before this season put up your hand)
