Yakupov is a recent 1st overall that could pan out to be a 30+ goal scorer? Drouin like Yakupov a HIGH 1st rounder with a ceiling of somewhere around perhaps 55-60 assists if paired with a good sniper? The fun thing about rumors is they're just that.. though it wouldn't surprise me to see something like this happening out of left field.

I agree with you to a certain point. Yakopov, to me has issues. Perhaps under Cooper those could be rectified, but I'd rather have Drouin.

I don't like the deal from Tampa's perspective. We don't need another sniper type of player. And for all of the pre-draft talk about his world-class speed he has not shown that in the NHL. This team is built on speed and unless Yak is hiding that speed I just haven't seen it. Not saying he's a bust b/c there is alot of potential but fit wise he isn't what this team needs. In fact he is repetitive given our current roster.

He did for sure. I rank the OHL right there with the OHL. Keep in mind Pouliot played on one of the most offensively talented teams in all of junior hockey as well so while he was a big reason for that, he still benefited from a strong supporting cast.

Larsson's production and level of play was very impressive this season considering the tough minutes he played on a weak team. I think PIT would be more likely to trade Pouliot or Larsson than NJ would the other way around.

That... and I'm just not at all worried about our Top-6 for a while to come. Stammer, Johnson, Palat, Kucherov, Killorn, Callahan*, Filpulla... maybe even Namestnikov... down the road, we've got guys like Braydon Point, among others. Drouin has a high ceiling than many, sure... but it isn't as though we're dying for another skilled winger on this team short or long term.

On D, however... I always feel that upgrades can be made. Hedman and Stralman are great. Garrisson is very, very good in a second-pairing role. Carle needs to go. Sustr is just not going to be what we want him to be. Nesterov has potential, Koekkoek has some potential, DeAngelo and Masin should be good...eventually. Coburn is a plug, for now.

Can't see yzerman dealing drouin I don't see a player I like at 3 that is better. We don't have many too six prospects in the system other then Erne. Makes more sense for Toronto to move up a spot.
