His issue stems from that ACL/MCL tear he had a couple years ago right before the AHL playoffs. He has not been the same player since that happened. My hope, before he was traded is that the knee surgery would fix any lingering issues he had. I guess the Flyers will find out if the knee surgery will bring him back to where he was when he first entered the NHL

id move drouin for the 3rd... dont think yotes would move the 3rd for drouin

its like buying a car, second its off the lot it depreciates. Drouin hasnt done enough to maintain all the hype as the new batch of potential let downs

Where is there a future top 2 dman available? Trading him to get Hanifin only regresses the team as Drouin could easily step into a top 6 role if they wanted him too and Hanifin would be a couple of years away before he reaches his ceiling, and I highly doubt we get another Ekblad (as he is a stud). Seth Jones? Maybe, but then why didn't you draft him over Drouin... Dougie Hamilton? Doubtful, bc why would Yzerman wanna commit 7 million to him when he needs to lock up Stamkos? No perfect answers so Yzerman should just hold onto him until his elc runs out. Then he can put himself into this "dilemma".

I never was that impressed with Gudas. Yes, his hits were devastating but more often than not, they were'nt timed properly. Maybe his surgery helps him and he is still young and could still develop into a solid defenders and I hope he does.

wait, he's a Flyer now, so screw him!

A former third overall pick for the third overall pick this year. Interesting. Does anyone know how high Hanifin's ceiling is compared to Jones and Ekblad?

I love Drouin, but gun to my head, I'd probably trade him for Marner. Both had monster junior numbers, but Marner did it in a better league. Would likely do it for Hanifin as well just because d-men are at such a premium these days.

IMO, Mitch Marner would be more to Yzerman's liking.

wouldn't you rather shed a contract like callahan, rather than Drouin, who'll be making entry level money over the next couple of seasons? Do the lightning value Callahan that much? Is the 3rd overall pick this year really that much better than Drouin? Will i start to make sense if I keep asking questions?

100%. But I'm not sure it has to be one or the other. Unfortunately Callahan's contract looks virtually unmovable. Not a great signing.

My dream scenario if Yzerman does trade Drouin for the third overall pick (which I don't really want him to), is to use the 3rd to move down to 6th while picking up an extra pick or player, and draft Provorov

I was just using Callahan as an example. Seems like there is at least one contract on that current roster that needs to go, Filppula maybe?

You don't use your groin to swing a baseball bat. Your power is generated with your hips and upper body which is why you see so many oblique strains from players swinging.

This is to whoever asked about Bishop swinging bp with his groin

One of the offers Coyotes are mulling for the No. 3 pick is for a young player good enough they wouldn't get another 1st back in the deal.

To think Drouin is that good of a player and NHL ready one would have to be delusional.

This points me in other directions... Draisaitl, Nail Yakapov, Ryan Murray or RNH.

Don't think now is the time to deal Filppula. Maybe after this upcoming season. Carle's would be the one I'd look to deal if possible, but that 'if possible' comes with a big, big if.

Benning would probably love Callahan, but would need to send an expensive vet back your way

How about Drouin for Derrick Pouliot?

It's the same reason that Dustin Tokarski got moved, he's a good player but things were not working out for him here. It was a lateral move for Brett Connolly's benefit.

Nah, that Tic deal had Boucher written all over it. Cedric was always a favorite of Boucher and at the time they said they felt at the time Cedric was better prepared for the NHL if needed

Wasn't Boucher call.

Is that why they both got traded? Conolly wasn't fitting in our top two lines and Gudas was no good to us with a bum knee.

Of course it wasn't his call but what I was trying to say is I believe that deal had Boucher's influence all over it as to why the deal was made. Again, the Bolts statement at the time was Cedric was more "NHL ready" than Tic if/when he was needed and that's why they made the deal.

In many ways very similar to how Boucher kept Brett with the Bolts his rookie year. Boucher was focused on "today" too much which in the end is why he didn't last here in Tampa.

Unless a trade with Toronto includes the names Stuart Percy and Morgan Rielly I'm not interested.

When are you going to propose signing Franson?
