The draft can't get here fast enough. All this speculation is driving me nuts. I got a feeling we are all in for a huge disappointment come Sunday.

Grenier impressed Benning and was rewarded with qualifying offer

I see what you're saying. But my honest take on our prospect pool: even if all of them played to their expected potential we still don't have a good team. We need a lot of guys to exceed expectations, have few to no busts, and also acquire a couple bluechip prospects before we can get excited about our chances.

Benning says you can only develop so many young D. Did he miss the sh*t show VAN's D did against CAL? Utica won't fix the problem next season. JB played the position, of all people he should get it. BPA better be a smokescreen or we are really in the sh*t.

sorry. I should have said MORE disappointed come Sunday.

If JB doesn't do what people on here want him to do, do we all start to question our rookie GM? Or is that sacrilege?

vrbata for the 31st?
- manvanfan

I think (and would hope) that we can do much better than that. The guy did score 30 goals, after all. And if Pittsburgh is looking for a quality return on Sutter you'd think that Vrbata should also provide for the same sort of returns.

Id prefer to move higgins instead of kassian. If kassain isnt in the long term plans then deal him at the dead line after playing him with the sedins to bump up his stats.

I've been more or less consistently disappointing since we lost in the 1st round to the Kings in 2012. The years before had a momentum behind them, the years after a felt like sliding down the side of a rocky crater on your rear end.

Kenins at that price is good n indicates much.

I see JB makin IMO 2 trades of forwards.
- Vrbata if it gets a 1st or 2 2nds.
- Vey is on the bubble n maybe is packaged with Lack.
- possibles Higgins, Bieksa

Richardson resigned cheap if forwards r moved.
Prolly 2-3 new faces will make opening day roster.
2015-16 will be the year our prospects will get serious oppurtunities to impact their wares. The retool process will hit the next gear.

I'd like to see some real shockers go down between now n Draft Day.
JB likes shuffling the cards n i luv it.
Can't wait to see what a few days does n changes the landscape.

- Nighthawk

Id like richardson back too if hes cheap. Vey is probably the one i want traded the most, he just doesnt fit in. Arizona needs centers badly and he would fit in with the rebuild hopefully get a 3rd for him.

That's my general feeling as well. We keep hearing about all of this anticipated wheeling and dealing, but exactly which assets are available and, in particular, are desired with respect to the other 29 GM's. I think many of you have posted the proposed or expected line-ups with respect to the upcoming year and there certainly doesn't seem to be many scenarios where an upgrade might be possible. Making things even more difficult, of course, are the many NMC/NTC that are in effect, so I wouldn't expect any sort of significant movement.

I keep hearing this San Jose rumour but I just can't see the Sharks giving up on a quality young asset like Dillon. Then again, the Sharks do seem like they are a bit of a dysfunctional group right now, so it might be in Wilson's best interest to try and shake things up further (something which he apparently tried to do last year with the whole Joe-Thornton-captaincy debacle, so you know he's not afraid to rock the boat, although perhaps it's more out of desperation in keeping his job as opposed to the usual GM dynamics)

What do we want Sutter for though? Is he better then Bonino or Horvat? Unless they are going to sweeten the pot quite a bit, which i doubt they are because they don't have a first or many good prospects left. With a deep draft, other then Arizona saying they are open to trading their first. I haven't heard many other teams saying they are willing.

Vey is just 23, turning 24 in July. I'd hold on to him for another season or two and see how he progresses. Last year was his first season in the NHL

I think that is the offer. Edler .

I am just saying there is not a Canuck player I wouldn't trade for him. I don't have any untraceable so on this roster. For the right deal everyone is available

- VANTEL

Id prefer if edler is to be traded that it be for young players or picks to continue with the rebuild. Lucic would help us win now sure but in no way does he put us over the top especially if edler is going the other way i think we would be worse and not worse in a good way as your just creating another hole on D that we have zero chance in filling.

I know he is an ass. He wasn't an ass when he played for the Giants. He would create a lt of room playing with the twins and be creating havoc in front .

Besides like they are saying on Twitter , if it happens maybe Miller will ask for a trade

I doubt LA would be trying to run the twins if he was their winger, Kesler would be less effective against Hank

- VANTEL

You have a good point.

Although I'm not sure that Miller asking for a trade makes him any more tradeable.

I know he is young but where is he on this team in 3 years, behind horvat, mccann, gaunce and cassels. Not to mention any other player we draft or sign. He is under sized, cant win face offs and is not good in his own end.

JB should realize he made a mistake and send him packing for whatever he can get.

Vey looked good at times and at other times he disappeared. When he got put in the lineup, late in the first round, I thought he had some jump. What would he look like playing with Sven?

Would not be against trading Vey for the right return. Same goes for any other player.

I was just merely making a comparison, in that I think Vrbata should fetch more than just a second round pick (basing that on Pittsburgh's stance as concerns anticipating some quality asset(s) coming back for Sutter if they were to trade him). I personally don't think Sutter will be able to bring in more than either a draft pick or perhaps a roster player going the other way. I think Pittsburgh is, as is the usual case for a franchise, over-rating their player. If that's the case, they will be in for a big surprise if that scenario actually takes place

Sending Miller back to Buffalo would be hilarious. But I really don't think he has much to teach anyone in the next 2 years that could be of value. AND I don't think they'd be interested in re-acquiring him with younger options available on the market.

Lack for #31
Lack for Jake McCabe
Lack for Justin Bailey

Vey has been a scorer at every level that he's been at. Averaged over a point/game in the WHL over 4 seasons, and has a 0.82 PPG in the AHL. I think he's better suited to the wing in the NHL, but he definitely has the offensive instincts to be an impact player. If he has a good summer training, I think we'll see a solid progression from his 24 points last season.

I agree that he needs to get better in his own end though. Hopefully that improves as well.

Yeah, anyone hoping for a brand new core of players next year is setting themselves up for disappointment. Realistically, the plan is to recoup a couple of draft picks by trading one of the Swedish goalies and a veteran roster player and then incorporating a little bit of more youth next year with Corrado/Clendening/Baertschi and maybe one of Virtanen or Grenier.

To me the current core assets moving forward are:
Horvat
Virtanen
McCann
Tanev
Demko
Baertschi

And then you have the vets and other prospects.

- Nucker101

This exactly. Just keep adding to the pile. Everyone else can go. Hoping cassels proves he belongs to that group I love his game.
