I actually was okay with the Miller signing. Lack was still fairly unproven after last year but outplayed Miller this past season. I wish Miller's deal was one year shorter or didn't include a no trade clause. Not sure if it's a full no trade?

Miller has to produce a list of teams if requested.

I agree that they're going more methodical. I disagree that Dubas being versed in analytics means that the Leafs will be going with a more stats based approach. That's the sort of thinking the dinosaurs who say analytics have no place in the game point to.

Shanahan is slower than Mike Gillis at decisions - he thinks it makes him look very smart. Leafs are a joke, and will be a joke for another 5-7 years, and Babcock isn't going to have a Detroit line up to play with

Vrbata disappeared in the playoffs. His production also was inflated by playing with the Twins. Beleskey was important for the Ducks during the season and in the playoffs, he was good on the forecheck, made big hits and scored big goals.

My thought is that if Anaheim, who's in a much better cap position than Vancouver doesn't want to pay him the big bucks, it's not worth it.

Too many instances of players having a single solid season, cashing in and disappearing.

I bet Chicago wished they never signed Bickell to that contract based on a single playoff performance.

Why then heck does cap central have higgins listed as a Center?

Henrik and daniel were 9th and 13th in scoring this year. Still without help. Let's get lucic. Edler buddy, you're gone.

Absolutely - Ville Leino, etc.

I loved Beleskey's game last year but I do like the stance that Anaheim is taking.

He probably has a better faceoff percentage than Bonino.

Definitely make sense, can't just play in the playoffs. Sad because it's player like him that feel they need more, that so many teams are in a cap crunch. Anaheim is doing the smart thing.

For 1.9 for 2 more years Bonino in a cap world, is probably worth a 10-15 pick. He did have a good world championship. He does need to be better on faceoffs.

That would be nice but that's probably a stretch unless PIT is high on Sbisa like Benning is. Sbisa is here to say with his new contract just signed. I don't mind him on the bottom pairing even if he is overpaid. Not his fault Benning gave him that deal.
- Alpha_Nuck

I could see Sbisa's deal looking pretty good at some point. Hopefully one where he improves and we're grateful he signed it. We have seen that happen repeatedly as Canucks fans.

How has he shown to be "slower than Mike Gillis at decisions?" He seems to have switched the entire direction of the franchise, which refused to do so for years, very quickly. Cleaned out almost everyone. Acquired a bunch of picks. And is looking at shipping out some others in the next few days.

Except that burrows is not likely going anywhere, i like this option. Sutter would need to be gone at TDL before his contract expires though. He will want too much on his next contract to be worth it for us. If we just let him walk it would have been the same as just letting vrbata go for a 3rd or 4th.
EDIT: If we got lucic, burrows may force a trade to get away from him.
