Lack is not a great goalie and is not worth a 1st either. - KB3Point0
Didn't say he was worth a 1st. |

If you are a GM and you're not lying (at least to some extent), you're not doing your job very well - Zogg
I don't believe the Talbot rumors either, I also don't think JB is the kind of guy to outright lie to the media. MG yes. |

Everyone lies at this time of year. Guess it's just part of the program. - VanHockeyGuy
That was Pratt's rant on 1040 the other day. How do you know if a gm is lying? his lips are moving.
If JB hasn't spoken with any players regarding waiving their ntc's, then we won't be trading any players with ntc's. I hope JB is lying when he says he hasn't approached any players about ntc's. |

If two 2nd round picks isn't enough for Talbot, then Lack is easily worth a 2nd(and not a late one).
He's our best goalie right now so it'll be tough to see him let go but hopefully Markstrom can translate his dominant AHL season over to the NHL next year. |

Phi would of given up 4 1st for Weber I believe and Vanek as well would of fetch 4 1sts. - belcherbd
Good grief, that's almost surreal! (can you imagine the buyer's remorse if the Vanek deal went through? of course this was when he was still putting up some nice numbers, but still, what a price to pay) |

None of the goalies up for grabs r worth a 1st.
Talbot n Lack both worth early 2nds.
Lehner late 2nd n prospect.
All 3 good for a package deal.
The likely destinations of the 3 will decide it. |

I believe his process with internal meetings etc. That said he's not showing his cards either, or should. |

Exactly, you are basically dictating the market, which is what most good GM's are able to do |

To be fair he had just scored 43 goals and EDM a season removed from the stanley cup final, they likely didn't think they were heading for a number of high end picks. |

I would give up four 1st round picks for Stamkos or a similar generational player that's already shown incredible skills and leadership. Those types of players are so rare. Too many busts over the years in the 1st round. Stamkos type player is a known commodity while those picks are just question marks. Worth it IMO. |

If Lack is only worth a third as a stand alone trade he will be packaged then .
Once the first goalie is gone other teams will hurry over to the next top guy. No GM wants to be standing there holding his sac telling his fan base he was too slow to react |

Looks like he has shown his cards regarding his goalie by offering Markstrom a qualifier and saying Miller is here to stay.
He also has committed to a number of waiver eligible players and is up against the cap. I imagine all the other GM's know what position Benning is coming from.
Other teams know he needs to move Lack and needs to shed salary, don't expect him to be getting great value. |

JB said the return wasn't good enough for the goalies. He's setting the value, if there are no deals at the draft you know he was getting lowballed. |

Which is a hell of a lot better than Dreger and many others who just make poop up.

There's almost zero chance he's only worth a third if Talbot is apparently worth more than two second rounder. That would mean Talbot is more than twice as valuable as Lack. |

I'm hoping for an early 2nd, but you're right. Benning doesn't appear to be a great negotiator and he gives away too much when he talks to the media by saying Miller will stay, a goalie will be moved, he doesn't think his goalies are the best available, and that he wants a 2nd.
But he's a good scout and a been in the business for a long time. |
