I think it means he is comfortable with his defensive prospects that are AHL eligible. It seems he wants add Hutton and Subban to the Comets and give those guys the next shot at working their way up. He will still have some variation of Pedan, Clendenning, Corrado, Sanguinetti and others on the team, not many roster spots available - WhiteLie

Crowded goalie market but prices aren't very high, @TSNBobMcKenzie says teams are unlikely to give up more than a draft pick for a goalie.

Apparently a team offered two second rounds picks for Talbot and the Rangers turned it down. If Lack is the next option, Benning may be able to get a 2nd and 3rd/4th for Eddie. As long as the Rags keep driving up the price on Talbot, Lack could end up getting more than just a 2nd rounder, which would be great IMO. - nucks_94
Lets hope that's true, the market price is set then. There are still lots of goalie on the market though, and UFA's that's Benning's challenge. |

'@TSNBobMcKenzie on Lack, "I'm sure he'll get traded & I'm sure the Canucks will get a pick for him, but nobody's getting more than a pick." |

There's your future D then. - VanHockeyGuy
They'll trade Bieksa and sign Franson
with Franson, Tanev, Edler you have 3 guys out of your top four that still have lots of years of serviceability in them.
Hopefully that buys them some time to find some better options... that isn't exactly a championship caliber defense |

My guess is Lack gets traded no matter what...just have to see what the return will be. Definitely a NO regarding having three goaltenders. |

Anything less than a 2nd rounder would be a huge fail by JB. |

Doesnt mean some kid cant leapfrog all of them in a year or two, swing for the fences Benning! - WhiteLie
The D as it stands today is not tough, small and complacent. I don't see anything in the AHL that's going to change that anytime soon. |

Benning is getting lowballed and competing with OTT and NY, if he gets that he'll be a hero. |

I'd say his biggest comp is NY. Criag anderson has little more value than Miller would. Only his cap hit would make him a tradeable asset. Even then teams will not pay high for a 34 year old goalie. Lehner has value due to his age, but Talbot and Lack would be ahead of him in value IMO simply because they both proved they can get a team into the playoffs when the #1 was injured. I'd say Talbot, barely,> lack>Lehner>Anderson. Ottawa would be better off keeping Lehner to back up, as Driedger is not ready to be NHL backup(hasn't even been AHl backup yet) |

Lehner last 2 seasons. Any team that trades for him is to have a back-up and future #1. Most teams needing goaltending need a #1 now. |

Not sure if I like this. At this cap Canucks can afford to keep older and expensive vets. Lower cap would have meant bye bye to KB, Higgins, Burr maybe. |

Will probably go right down to the draft, with the depth this year a 2nd may be a typical #1. Hope it's for BUFF #31 |

I'd be happy with a high 2nd. Better yet, I'd prefer it if we could bundle in someone else and up it to a better pick or prospect. |

He isn't getting lowballed. The market is set by supply and demand. There is a tonne of supply and limited demand.
At this point, Lack has proved to be nothing more than an average starting goalie. A really likeable, average starting goalie. |
