Who knows what he has in mind? It is not like McNally is Bobby Orr . We have Clendenning Corrado Hutton Subban Cedarholm Ericsson Pedan

I heard yesterday that Bieksa to SJ was building steam. What if it is for RFA Dillon then things don't look too bad .

Wait and see what happens in the next 3 weeks

Maybe Franson to Vancouver who really knows

He needs to go BPA… Especially in the first round.
I like Harkins but I don't think he'll be on the board at 23rd so I hope he takes a chance on a Kylington/Sprong/Guryanov type skill player.

- Jim_Robson

Seeing more profiles on Harkins the more I like him. Sounds like a Patrice bergon type player and will make the players around him better.

Hi value

Dreger hears a team (not #Oilers) offered two second round picks for Cam Talbot and that didn't close the deal. #NYR todaysslapshot.com/from-the-ice/d…

He needs to fix an area of weakness. This area is our future.

In probably 2 years will be picking top 5. Pick up a good D then.

Outside of goaltending, where aren't the Canucks weak in the prospects pool? They have a few decent centers that may or may not be any higher than 3C's but dont have prospect depth anywhere else

I believe I heard Benning say on 1040 they'll take the BPA at 23, forward or defense, doesn't matter.

Two things - poor drafting by the Nonis & Gillis regime's and poor drafting position due to being successful in the regular season.

Stoll getting charged with felony cocaine possession - old news to some but he got caught with an 8-ball in Vegas.

Yup, this is why I dont have a problem going BPA. I just hope, like others, they swing for the fences and go for a gamebreaker and not some safe pick

Trevor Linden for Bertuzzi, McCabe & a 3rd

Oh wait....trading popular players is never a smart thing to do

- LeftCoaster

It's been so long since the canucks 'won' a trade. The only time our team wins is when we trade with guys like the Mad Mike's (Milbury or Keenan). Thise types of GMs are long gone.

Our team will need to be built through the draft.

Drafting defenseman in the first round never really panned out that well for the canucks. Bryan Allen was a top 4 at best and we can't say much about Luc Bourdon.

Benning,

"we just felt we can only develop so many young defencemen at once.”

If Benning thinks the D doesn't need an overhaul the team is in big trouble.

That says nothing, to me, about the draft. Just explaining why they chose not to sign 23 year old McNally.

He's still gonna draft the BPA at the draft.

To some extent its true, you can only have 2 on the ice at one time, and in Utica where they are trying to win, will probably play their top guys 20+ minutes a game. Its not good development to have a player such as McNally in and out of the lineup, playing 5-10 minutes per game or down in the ECHL. Especially for those that are already further down the depth chart

That being said I dont think it scares him to draft a defensemen as that player will likely go back to juniors to be a top pairing player in all situations

It suggests that he's comfortable with his defensive prospects and doesn't feel a need to add more at this time.

Unless he knows that he'll be picking up another young dman this week, therefore making McNally expendable.

I think it means he is comfortable with his defensive prospects that are AHL eligible. It seems he wants add Hutton and Subban to the Comets and give those guys the next shot at working their way up. He will still have some variation of Pedan, Clendenning, Corrado, Sanguinetti and others on the team, not many roster spots available

As of today he has 1 pick out of the first 90, regardless of what position the pick is he's still a prospect. He has some challenges ahead of him this week. It looks like a buyers market on goalies.

Apparently a team offered two second rounds picks for Talbot and the Rangers turned it down. If Lack is the next option, Benning may be able to get a 2nd and 3rd/4th for Eddie. As long as the Rags keep driving up the price on Talbot, Lack could end up getting more than just a 2nd rounder, which would be great IMO.
