It's all about perception. Sharp got his name on the cup again and Kuni got sent to the golf course early again. - madmike71
There are definitely teams looking for a to add a physical player to their top 6. Only takes one to see Kunitz as a bounce back guy. If I were a team like Buffalo or Edmonton, I'd look at a guy like Kunitz. Edmonton may lack the cap space. |

I'd rate Sharp just a little above Kunitz as far as skills go. Both awessome players if were around 28-30 years old. |

I would unload Kapanen only if it meant a solid young top 6 winger coming back. - Barnaby36
Sure, trade needs to make sense. If it's Sharp, we riot! |

True, but their careers are very similar across the board. |

I don't know why but Kunitz looks like a Jet type. I'd be pretty happy with a Bennett/Kunitz for Wheeler trade. |

Always thought Edmonton could be interested in a guy like Kunitz. They have all the youth and talent in the world, but they need some guys who've been there before to turn the culture around. They need to start contending soon or else they truly are jokes. |

One thing that worries me about Kunitz is his hands. He looked like one of those guys that reached his "sell by" date. Stone hands. |

For sure. A 2nd at least.
Who Would You sign for our top 6 out of the weak free agent class? Plan A, B and C. - Barnaby36
Soderberg far and away is my top target. He's probably best as a 3C, but if they had someone else who could play there on the roster you could try him at 2W or even 2C if you want to throw Crosby and Malkin together some. Be interested to see what a guy who got 92 points the past 2 years as a 3rd liner could do with Malkin.
Guys like Frolik and Stafford are alright, but I wouldn't pay the premium price for them. I'd rather make sure I can extend Perron who I think is better than either. Frolik would at least be a nice fit because he's such a well rounded player, but 5M for him seems like alot when you have to look at new deals for Perron and Maatta next year and Pouliot after that. |

Why would Winnipeg do this? Again, trade garbage (Bennett) and guy on the decline (Kunitz) for a prime top six forward.

So a couple of you guys want Shawn Matthias... A guy that will cost more than Sutter and is the opposite... Looks strong in the season and disappears in the playoffs, small sample albeit. I would avoid someone like him as much as possible. |

I'm taking Soderberg out of the equation because he is a third line center and doesn't help the top two lines.
I don't like any of the options. They are all flawed. However, Frolik is my number one, if I had to choose. Stafford, I don't want any part of. poopty work ethic and underachiever. Those go hand in hand I guess. People are mentioning Beleseky. He is going to get more than people think and that is way too much for my liking.
This pool of options sucks.

Kunitz grew up not real far from Winnipeg. He could provide some experience for them. I suggested Kunitz, Sutter, Harrington, 3rd round pick 2016 for Ladd. Ladd will be a UFA next year.
Ladd would be amazing on the Penguins! |

And then walk. Even if Peg wanted this deal I say no because even if we resign him he may decline in the near future. See Kunitz, Chris. |

Ladd is pretty good. I'd be all for it. Experient and is a captain In his own team.
Anyway M.Richards Can get better? If he was bought out, I'd rather have him than Sutter as our 3rd C. |

Forgot Beleskey. If desperate might take a chance on him. At least I know I'm getting a good defensive player and physical beast. But I'm scared he might be a 4M Blake Comeau. They really need to go the trade route, and obviously there is not a guy we all agree on, so that's not much better, at least if you want to keep your top prospects. |

If you held a gun to my head and told me to sign a top six forward for his inflated, market value, I'd pick Frolik. If you held a gun to my head and told me to sign any UFA for his inflated, market value, I'd pick Soderberg. He's a good player, excellent 3C, and the 4 mil that he's projected to get is very damn close to his actual value. Not much of an overpayment if at all. |

Richards has shown nothing to lead anyone to believe he is better than Sutter at this stage. Why risk it. He is a non factor now.

I like Soderberg. He would be very high on my wish list for the exact reasons you pointed out. He is capable of playing 2C in some instances for certain teams. But, I was told to put down A,B,C for top six. I put down A and didn't B and C because I don't think there are any better options out there.

Buying out Richards would hit the Kings' cap $1.467 million per season over 10 years. |
