No one wants the team to loose deliberately, just start over and work hard. The result at the end of the season won't be that tough to take if that happens. Small steps.
- VanHockeyGuy

This is it exactly. I love the Canucks and want the best for them . I don't like the current roster and I want the fast process instead of a little at a time. There is no excuse to have Higgins playing the left side this year when you have Daniel Sven Gaunce JV who can add something different.

They were positioning for home ice advantage for the post season. Losing deliberately is bullsh!t.
- Marwood

It should not have mattered against a team like the Flames , remember this was not suppose to be even close. This is the matchup everyone begged for for months

True but laying a template for the future isn't..

Like I said if Benning go full tem with The Sedins my prediction is he will be exiting the same year. The culture of this club needs to change this year. He has some hard ass decisions to make, see if he has the stones to do it

- VANTEL

I'm tired of the pissing and moaning about the sedins. They are 2 players on the Canucks and certainly not the reason the Canucks lose.

The supporting cast and defense on this team has been atrocious since after 2011.

The anti-Sedin talk is for the bipolars.

Having said that, JB needs top end talent to transition the sedins into a 2nd line. It's evolution of the team but anyone who blames the misery of the Canucks on the sedins really need to re-evaluate their own knowledge of hockey.

The players on the ice play their hardest. The team sent on the ice is up to the mgmt.

Canucks mgmt should have been well aware of that draft swing by winning one meaningless game. It is not tanking it is strategy. It also rests your top players

Benning has to deal with the contracts he inherited, keep that in mind, it's nice to say I'd like to move this guy...but you need a partner to make it happen and you need the player to be ok with the move.

I think you keep Higgins long enough until Sven, gaunce and JV prove themselves then promptly ship his ass out...

It's such a fluid thing, professional sports, it's constantly changing and you've gotta react to what's in front of you.

If you're hoping for a complete culture change in one year you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Over the next three years it'll be a changeout of about three players per year until you see a complete overhaul.

- LeftCoaster

I was very patient in year one. This is year two we are even older now and I expect big cuts this year with cap issues, teams looking to improve and cap issues. This is a great year to make major changes. Tinkering just won't suffice this year.

Difference is you are a fan, I'm not. Simple as that. No blame on the Sedins.

"Shouldn't" doesn't cut it...it does matter. Every team wants home ice advantage. Only one team can win the Cup but it does matter.

About a third of the posters on here are still whining about the team not going into tank mode.
- Marwood

I don't want a tank I want a change, if that means losing some games I'm okay with it.

If he waits out the contracts he will be gone too. He said he wants bigger faster younger tougher. Only way to create room like that is by moving.

I honestly think some folks here will be surprised at how deep the cuts go this year. This is an excellent opportunity this year to improve

I'm not a Higgins fan at all. He is a fringe player that is getting old and productivity reducing every year.

You're not being patient if you expected wholesale changes and complete roster turn-over in one year. This will take 5 - 7 years with luck and if done properly.

This is how I feel. I think our team is so far from contending with the elite. It needs a total change

Retools like what we are doing do not take 5-7 years, rebuilds do. See CHI. We are expected to be a playoff team.

I'm on record as saying I support change! I want it. But like I said, Benning can't force things, you lose value when you do that.

Also, Benning won't be fired, you're dreaming. Constantly changing management means you never have sound structure. Did you see the interview during the playoffs where Chicago President John McDonough stated that when he took over the Hawks had something like eight coaches and six general mangers in ten or twelve years.

You simply can't have a stable franchise like that. He set out to change that, and he did.

I was looking at the 2016 mock draft site. We are picked for 15 th overall again. I know it is a mock draft , but that is where I see us finishing too. How excited can one be , seeing the same sad faces with a lacklustre first round exit?

At this pace it will take more than 10 years . Bringing in 15 -30 th picks will take much longer than selling a few players and brining in top 10 players four 3-4 years

I am a fan of Benning. I am saying he will not wait until contracts expire, he will get rid of them sooner. I expect at least 3 NTCs to be moved this year.

People are laughing at the 40/1 Vegas odds. I'm not, it's realistic.
