Aquilini wants to win. First of all, he is not accustomed to not winning. He likes winning. It's his nature. He's a billionaire.
Also, the more the Canucks win the more money he makes. Fans who think all he cares about is getting a couple home playoff games need to think about what that really matters to him. What's a few extra million in the grand scheme of things to a billionaire? Another Cup run, or even better a Cup victory, are worth so much more to him financially that the thought that all he really wants is a couple extra playoff games every year is just so Botchford. - KB3Point0
Spot on, just because mgmt want to compete every year doesn't mean aquaman is pushing an agenda of playoff revenue.
Owners don't buy sports teams to make money, they do it to show everyone else how much money they have.

Just goes to show you that, no matter what a player like Crawford does, it's never going to be good enough. I think at this point, after having won two cups, there shouldn't be any debate as to the quality of his play. Contrary to what most people think, even though Chicago has a great defense, they would still not win if Crawford wasn't sharp and battled through many of the very close playoff match-ups. Perhaps he's not the sexiest pick as concerns goaltenders and he may not be as acrobatic or flashy as others, but he's right up there in the top tier level of net minders nonetheless. He just gets the job done and that's the most important thing. All else is irrelevant. - Zogg
They probably would still win, but likely they'd have to outscore their opponents more without Crawford in net. To me as long as you can make the key save at the right moment is more important than anything. Let's just say I think Crawford does what he needs to and the team does the rest. |

Aquilini does not want 2 home games.
One thing that gets forgotten in this place is the true competitive nature of professional sports. Not many people who make it into the uper echelons on competitive sports teams are willing to purposefully lose. EVER.
This whole notion of tanking is f*cking disgusting. - KB3Point0
That's Malarkey. Plenty of smart owners understand the rebuild process...others do not. For years the Leafs were not aloud to rebuild because the Ont Teachers Pension people wanted minimum 2 games of playoff revenue.
They did not have any (frank)s to give about the Stanley Cup. |

Trade Lack cause he'll net more than Markstrom. Get as much as possible. Doubt a move from 23 to 16 though. As far as him being a fan favourite, couldn't care less. Make the best hockey move possible and DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FANS!
Caanata is only there to play in the AHL. We need to ice a team there too.
Conacher sucks. - KB3Point0
I agree make the best hockey move, alas I don't think that involves moving lack just because he will fetch more than markstrom.
Should we move Tanev and keep Sbisa just because he has more value?

There is a huge difference between tanking and knowing you need to start over again. Canucks have a current bunch of dandelions but are trying to grow a rose garden. It is never going to happen with this group . The core is wilting. Sometimes you realize you don't have the proper mix and need to re seed.
Tanking is where you want a bad team. We want a better team but we understand the process how to get there .
You might even say that people that want the rebuild are more passionate about winning than the people wanting the slow and steady route of mediocre team for years.
You need top end players to win a cup . There are very few ways to get that |

He's a mucker that's for sure. Winning a Stanley automatically means that your price goes up so no big surprise he has a big contract. |

I will touch one more thing on tanking , and smart management.
Winning the last game of the year ,when we had a playoff spot clinched , cost us 8 spots in this years draft. We have an old team , to me that is horrible management . |

Fans fall in love with players too easily. Yes players are human but it is also business. Cheer for the name on the front not the back. I have certain players I like but if they are gone for the betterment of the time so be it. |

That's dumb. Can't tell the players to lose. Do you think Bieksa or the Twins give a rats ass about a rebuild? |
