oh c'mon, he isn't that talented

OK. Fair enough. Let's just trade him away and see what he will become. Then we can role with Reimer, Gibson and Bibeau (until we want this muthalicka gone)

K. (frank) it, passed caring.

I'd like to add Bernier to the list of who we should trade.

Kessel
Dion
Bernier
Everyone else not named Rielly should go ASAP.

(frank), we'll be good in a few years, just like the Oilers.

he is a middle of the pack goalie, not worth 4 plus million
- the_eye

I wouldn't mind giving the guy a year to prove he's a superstar but no long term big money unless it's a sure thing. Having said that, ultimately the rebuild is 3-5 years, Bernier is in his 30's, which isn't bad, but thats a few years to find a younger more stable option IMO, therefore, get something for him now....

What exactly do you think we will get for a "middle of the pack", "dime a dozen" goaltender? 3rd, 4th round pick?

We will regret trading him.

well - your view of him is that he is more or may become more than the "middle of the pack guy"... perhaps other teams have the same/similar view - and he wouldn't be overly expensive.

so..... perhaps a team such as San Jose or Dallas or Phoenix would be interested in him - all with slightly differing reasons.

Look at how many good young goalies there are, the market is thick as it's been in years. They all go down and play percentages are very similar. He lost at least 5 probably 8 games on his own and stole nothing last year. He stole maybe 2 the year before, even Reims gets shutouts every 8-10 when he's the number 1. The reality is the Leafs don;t need to worry until years from now, when another young crop of goalies will be entering the league and grow with the team. Bernier is small and not nearly athletic enough to be a ultra butterfly guy, think Quick and how mobile he is cause he needs to be with his size...

Guys you think MIN placing Cooke on waivers gives them room to go after Kessel prior to next friday? They have the 20th pick right? Wonder what else they can throw in...

Meh. We're poop for 5 years anyways. That's why we want JB out.

Plus we get a 1st round draft pick to pin our hopes on.
