I honestly don't think Weir likes golfing in these events any more. His back is screwed. Seems he is just making his contractual sponsorship appearances or golfing in events with existing exemptions and that's it. I think he's rather like Fred Couples and would rather just golf with his buddies every week.
- Woderwick

That's not what I've heard from a friend whose company was a sponsor.

Weir had contractual obligations to the sponsor to play rounds of golf with clients, and made it known he felt it was a huge inconvenience to him.

It was actually a huge inconvenience to the sponsor - they had to line up clients to golf with Weir, which became much, much harder as the time wore on, and Weir sank further and further out of the consciousness of the golfing public.

Which always seemed insane to me - I don't care if the guy was out of the game for 30 years, I'd still like to golf with a guy who owns a green jacket.

But anyhoo, according to my friend, Mike still thinks he is one or two tweaks away from being right back in it. Which I suppose is the mindset that all great athletes have to have. But c'mon, Mike - other than that one tournament last year or the year before, you've just been tarnishing your legacy.

Can I ask one thing about Kontiola comparisons to Zaitsev, how the hell can you compare a d-man to a forward first off, there's also a huge difference in age, and lastly, the Flyers have been chasing this guy for awhile, in fact when they signed Medvedeyev, many thought Zaitsev was next.

Sucks we're not getting him. These are the type of signings I like seeing. Especially heading into a rebuild.

me and my 23 handicap have a blast every year. I break 100, and have enough beer to get pleasantly drunk. It's all good.

Were you one of the people comparing the two? If so, what's next, should we compare Stuart Percy to Nikolai Kulemin?
