Guys.... Guys.... Guys.....

Before Lecavalier injured his back he was on pace to score 743 goals.

Considering that Neely had 55+ goals and 120+points in his draft year, Mr. Crouse is going to have to pick up the offensive development pace a bit to live up to that comparison.

All I can do is regurgitate it. Endorsements are not forth coming.

You know he wasn't going to keep up that pace. His shooting percentage was grossly inflated over that period of time.

No, the Flyers hoped he'd stay in some capacity.

Maybe going to work for his nephew was a draw for Murray.

I'm pretty sure he and Tim Murray are related.

Head of Central scouting says Lawson Crouse is the next Cam Neely, doesn't understand why Hanifin seems to be dropping in other evals. Loves Blackwood who showed off his athleticism at combine.

That's my report.

- mayorofangrytown

Well, if that is true, we may want to draft him.

I believe it is. Of course I also think Hanifin is going to be much better than Provorov and Timo Meier should go top ten.

I'm an island over here.

Small sample sized be damned MOAT. He was en fuego! Astute signing by Holmgren. How could he forecast VLC would get injured?

Very few players would willingly walk away from every remaining penny on their multi-million dollar contract. They'd rather be bought out. However, Vinny is already the highest paid player in NHL history, collecting buyout payments from Tampa for many years to come and the Flyers refuse to buy him out (thereby taking a cap hit for six years).
- bmeltzer

Even still, I don't know how people believe these guys will just voluntarily walkaway from milions of dollars.

Is there a precedent? I do not recall a player retiring before the end of his contract and leaving millions on the table?

I really enjoyed the Lindsay Carson/Bob Froese feud

I went and googled that.....

Just reading quotes from Phil Esposito from when he was the Rangers coach makes me want to punch a wall. I hate that guy.

There's no way he's going to retire, he wants to play. But I do believe this mutual termination option can and will be how this thing plays out. The Flyers playing hardball by refusing to buy him out, the non existent trade market, and the Flyers more or less telling him he can expect to be a healthy scratch again most of next year leaves this the only logical outcome if he wants to continue to play. As has been stated many times his salary is not as much as his cap hit, he's made a fortune already, and someone will probably sign him for 1 year and 1 million once he becomes a UFA.

I'm certain his financial adviser is doing all he can to educate him on the consequences of walking away from $5.5 million dollars. If he isn't, he's a horrible adviser and should be fired immediately.

Just because you are already rich doesn't mean you can/should walk away from money.

Leafs blogger saying the Leafs will sign Zaitsev
- Just5

As per Zaitsev's agent (quoted in Sports.ru) there are no agreements between his client and any NHL club. As per agent, Zaitsev is committed to CSKA in the coming season.

The counterpoint is: Just how bad does Vinny Lecavalier want to play hockey? How much is it worth to him?

The Sabres have a couple of up and comers on the blueline too, no? Murray is a good pickup for them.

Eh, Esposito never bugged me. I think he's funny. He knows how to play the game and was playing it well there.

I'd love to see clips of that game.

Just riffing on this Vinny thing....what's he still playing for? Another Cup run? Love of the game? Money? the need to compete at the highest level?

Any or all of those could be motivating factors for him.

i had no idea about therien's sister. what a terrible tragedy, but like pelle, she helped others in need with her passing.

vinny...ugh...i just want this to go away. there always seems to be SOME lingering issue with the flyers from one season to the next. always. maybe he plays well, contributes, gets his money, and everybody's happy? that's possible, right?

always a big niitty fan. watched that whole calder run live - no flyers at the time, (frank)ing lockout - and he was terrific. another flyer goalie with great potential cut down early. sigh.....

get the (frank) on with it.

Based on their season ticket price, I think they overcharged you.

If I am Vinny, I take the mutual termination and I have 29 possible options to look for another place to play.

Money is not a factor if I am him. I am already getting paid a LOT of money by Tampa, I have already made a poopload of money in my career and I want to PLAY.

- MBFlyerfan

I think the problem is he is concerned if he'll have one possible option, versus having 29. If he is a UFA, he could be looking at a camp tryout.
