Unless this could subtract several years off his age?
We never heard complaints about his conditioning. - puckhead17
That was actually one of Berube and Hextall's gripes with Vinny, at least after the 2013-14 season. He is always in excellent upper-body shape but the complaint was a lack of skating conditioning during the offseason. |

Lecavalier needs to play at center, or RW, preferably at center, on a scoring line, and be given ample icetime and PP time. He also needs to be paired with a playmaker and distributor of the puck that can get him the puck, so he can use the one good asset he may still have left, which is his shot. The problem is I don't see a good team wanting to put him in that slot. So that leaves subpar teams looking for a veteran, and possibly a higher cap hit versus salary ratio to help reach the cap floor. Will Lecavalier be willing to accept a trade to a team like that, in order to gain playing time? - MJL
He can go to Arizona right now and get all kinds of playing time if thats all he wants |

If I am Vinny, I take the mutual termination and I have 29 possible options to look for another place to play.
Money is not a factor if I am him. I am already getting paid a LOT of money by Tampa, I have already made a poopload of money in my career and I want to PLAY.

Imho, the only way he should take the mutual termination (after July 1) is if he has a deal already lined up that will recoup a minimum of $4M of the $5.5M he'd be walking away from.

Exactly, and if he has any, he would rather play than sit in the pressbox. And he will do anything that has to be done to play. If that means a mutual termination so be it. A mutual termination is definitely the least pride damaging option.

Bill,
Any snippets or whispers about the assistant coaching search? I see Stevens might not be back with NJ. Anyone one from UND coming with Hackstol? |

This is the other kind of pride, the type people are reluctant to swallow. |

That is what I'm hoping and thinking. There will be teams willing to sign him for maybe 1 million or so plus bonuses. If he really thinks he can still play and truly wants to play, he'll terminate and sign that type of deal somewhere.

Oh well, no big loss. There are quite a few competent assistant/minor league coaches out there.
