Not in my mind. All he's done is act like a spoiled brat in Philly.

And yeah, that's harsh, and he's a professional guy who has done a lot of charity. Point is though, he signed on the dotted line of a contract for the Philadelphia Flyers, and he's failed on every single level in fulfilling that contract, IMO.

I don't like a few of the comments Lecavalier has made either, but overall, he's been a pretty solid guy and consumate professional. I judge him on the whole, and not on a few comments.

Yeah I don't think he has really done or said anything terrible. He made a couple comments but I am sure that was just frustration. Other then that he hasn't done anything to really rock the boat.

That's because you have the persepctive of a normal guy, who doesn't have millions to his name. That situation would be an upgrade in terms of financial status for normal people. For a professional athlete who has been at the top of his profession for a long time, it is a downgrade.

the Panthers should sign St.Louis and trade for Vinny. Jagr Vinny Marty

The Flyers' willingness to pick up part of Lecavalier's remaining salary could also increase their ability to trade the player. However, at least thus far, Hextall has not had interest in taking a chunk of Lecavalier's money on the Flyers cap.

I guess it depends what comes back in trade, but part of his salary for the duration of the contract is certainly better than all of it.

Like Mark Recchi said, your legs are the first sign that it may be time to hang them up.
- puckhead17

Yeah, Vinny could work his ass off (he probably does), wouldn't matter... no legs, no game.

Can't buy him out, the first 3 years would carry a cap penalty of 2.9 million. No way they are going to carry 2.9 million of dead space for 3 years
- BiggE

If he doesn't retire/terminate, the Flyers are doing just that regardless.

Here we go. Hawks parade today. Every single bandwagoner is gonna be getting soaked in the rain, and pick pocketed on the streets of Chicago. (frank) 'em. This is the one day I'm happy to be sitting in my interior office lol

I went to the last parade, it was brutal. It was hot last time, every single person was wasted, there were multiple drunk dooshes trying to literally start fights with me... Everyone was sweaty and bumping into each other, it was gross.

I strongly disagree with this premise.

It's a two way street. The Flyers offered him the contract and now it seems they're being Richards about it. This situation is a prime example of Philadelphia's past, short-sighted behavior.

The one good thing he does still have going for him, is a big, strong shot.

What?! Huge crowds of intoxicated people smashed together in a small space without a bathroom in sight is a bad thing?

It's a business. Vinny isn't getting it done on the ice any longer, what are the Flyers supposed to do? They can't force him to retire/terminate, but they can be definitive that he isn't playing another game in a Flyers jersey. I don't think that's Richardish, after all, Vinny is getting paid all the money he is due if he wants to just sit around. Or he can forfeit the cash and see what happens on the free market.

Welcome to the world the rest of us live in...minus the $2 million bonus.

AHhh yes no bathrooms and every retail store wouldn't let hawks paraders into stores to use the bathrooms either. At one point, there was a guy at one the "L" stops, he was pissing on people walking below him... (frank)ing animal.

Unless this could subtract several years off his age?
We never heard complaints about his conditioning.

Through all of this, you have to hand it to Vinny. He's not being a distraction. He's vented his frustration at times, but not in a negative way. I respect that.

I went to the Phillies parade and it was a blast. Didn't hurt that the parade start was within blocks of my job

Lecavalier needs to play at center, or RW, preferably at center, on a scoring line, and be given ample icetime and PP time. He also needs to be paired with a playmaker and distributor of the puck that can get him the puck, so he can use the one good asset he may still have left, which is his shot. The problem is I don't see a good team wanting to put him in that slot. So that leaves subpar teams looking for a veteran, and possibly a higher cap hit versus salary ratio to help reach the cap floor. Will Lecavalier be willing to accept a trade to a team like that, in order to gain playing time?

Depends on if he's more willing to play, or sit in a suit and eat hot dogs, and drink miller lite while his teammates are playing
