"Quality defenseman"
"Misused"
"Shot blocks"

etc.

- jmatchett383

The only people who talk about MacDonald's shot blocks are the people who claimed him leading the league in 13-14 was a negative, and then claimed that him only being middle of the pack on the Flyers defense in shot blocks was also a negative.

Guess he wasn't a fit for Hakstol. No big deal.

The question is where the hell are the Phantoms going to find another 65 year old guy to miss the playoffs every year?

To me this is more of the same. If I'm Vinny, I'm not walking away from 2.5 million because who knows if he'll be offered anything close after termination regardless of what Tampa still owes him. Would you? I think playing hard ball but is unnecessary, especially from a team that isn't winning any time soon and complained of lack of leadership this past season. Work together and peacefully coexist. For me it's a problem of ego. Find a trade partner if you can but if you can't, at least try to find a hit. Vinny is no more an Angkor then our terrible defense and lack of depth up front. By the time he's gone Hextall should have righted the ship. I don't under the rush if you cannot move him. Unless we dramatically improve our play as a group, there is no rush.

If you count the money he will get from the Tampa Buyout Vinny will have made $100 million. I seriously doubt $2.5 million is even an after thought to him. That's not counting the boat load of money he's made on endorsements and such. Amazing that he still gets 250K a year in endorsements.

Unless he really falls off a cliff, he'll get $8M min.

Nope. If he has another season like the last, we'll be lucky to get him at that number.

i do think he comes down a little. but yeah. i think you have to lock him up. knowing other teams will have two high priced stars gumming up the salary cap makes me happy.

although what the (frank). pens finally have some space and there isnt anything worth spending it on.

oh boy. lets give tlusty 4.5 mil a year. god damn it.

funny thing is the flyers are expecting these two to play at this level when they're in their mid 30's when these teenagers they have in the prospect pool develop... just (frank)ing genius.

welcome to the pens plan.

youll love it.

after a while, the first round flame outs dont hurt as bad. you can just reflect on all of the magical moments the duo had during random games against basement feeder teams in november.

no i think at this point (barring any drastic fluctuations in his play) he is as valuable or more valuable than giroux. im starting to think jake would be the better captain.
