If im the oilers I draft nothing but Dmen in the draft. All there forwards are young, free agency can fill any gaps. Their blue line is dreadful luckily they should be able to pull 2 solid Dmen. Then gamble with their other picks on Dmen too unless a goalie happens to pop up that they like. They would be better off signing a UFA this year Niemi, they looking to sign top college goalies this off season. - mauryballstein
The only problem is that the Oilers have more defensive prospects than forwards. They need "now" players and not more kids to develop.

to Oil - Morrisey and Comrie
to Wpg - Hall or Eberle
yes, I know Oil fans will want a ton more ( they always do when discussing anyone)but this is absolutley fair!! and a very smart move for both

Corey Crawford's name is popping up as a potential trade candidate because the Hawks will have to choose between him and Seabrook when his contract runs out next year. I'd rather see the Hawks keep Crawford, but going to have to choose between them.
Oilers need a goalie. Hawks have one to potentially trade. Good trade partners for this. I think it wouldn't be crazy:
Crawford for #16 overall pick and Draisaitl.
I know people will probably not like including Draisaitl, but CC is a hell of a goalie and has 2 cups on his resume. - Dannyboy

You pose an interesting idea, maybe the Oilers could draft McDavid with the 16th overall then. |

Fair? 1 All-star NHL player for two prospects?
I like both prospects but that's not a deal I would make. Goalies are voodoo and Morrissey isn't good enough to ignore the fact that Comrie could be a dud. |

I edited my post and McDavid is indeed a prospect but he's a prospect unlike any other for the past decade. |

I realize Oiler fans would 100% say no, i just think this is a smart move for them. Morrisey is ready now and sets up a 1-2 punch with Nurse for a long time. I understand risk with goalies but everything I've seen from Comrie and Hellybuck for that matter show me they are the real deal and will be long time starters in nhl.
but I'm not an idiot, its a higher risk/reward trade for Oilers |

If I were to trade one of those wingers I want a guaranteed NHL player coming back. I like Morrissey but I'm not entirely sure he's NHL ready this season and the Oilers need veteran players who can shelter the already young guys they have. Comrie is also years away from helping the Oilers and they could just draft their own prospect this year. |

It doesn't and he is asking for a top 5 or so LW in the League or the player that led the Oilers in scoring last season in return. |

So you want an all-star caliber player for two prospects that, while they are noted as great potential, still haven't had a breakout season or better yet, they haven't even played in the NHL for a season yet!?
I'm sorry, but no way.
We need now players, not future players.
However, if these assets were involved in a package, it might be more realistic:
Eberle + 16th for Buff (Extended) + Morrisey + 2nd + Conditional 2nd (Considering Morrisey)
Either way, Eberle, the 16th, Buff, and Morrisey would be the main pieces of the trade. |
