Yep. The Leafs will suck for the foreseeable future. This isn't news. Hopefully the new regime sticks to their word and builds up the prospect pool and remains patient in the time ahead. The Leafs did use a vast amount of money to convince the man who everyone in the hockey world believed to be the best coach on the planet to come and help be a part of the solution for this franchise. The fact he's associated with the Leafs does not make him a worse coach than the day before he signed with then.

You're just hammering on points that most of us already know and have accepted.

shouldn't you have waited a few years to go after a "so called top coach". Won't you need some top draft picks for this rebuild to work. So either you plan on wasting Babcock by tanking or he is gonna help you to be just good enough not to get top draft picks. Major step in rebuild is first losing a lot, which makes me wonder, how a coach who trys to win every game is gonna help???

They always liked Draisaitl, but he only became Gretzkyesque the moment we showed an interest in him.

It's a ground up rebuild, from the foundations, and Babcock wants to be a part of it from the beginning. He knows what he's getting into.
