And they have at least some prospects already in place developing, like Nylander, Brown, etc. It helps that the Leafs surprisingly haven't traded a first round pick away since the Kessel deal. This is dependent on any of those prospects actually working of course. But it's not like they are an expansion team right now. They suck poop, but they definitely have more than nothing in the hopper.

Huh? A Hodgson signing with the Leafs will be a very low risk situation and only happen if he is bought out. This is nowhere near the same thing as trading for Phaneuf.

I hate when that happens. Like when (sorry to say this name guys) Tim Connolly came to the Leafs. And everything negative the Sabres fans said was so very accurate and they were so completely right. That sucked.

If Kessel gets traded, I feel that the thread of the team he gets traded to will be a fun read.

Somebody posted on FB that Kessel's 8-team list includes Phi, Mtl, Min, Chi, LA, NYR, Pit & Bos (Wow). Not sure the source, but if it's true, that will be tough.

From what I read, a bunch of the Leafs prospects have developed well over the last couple of years. They're just not really blue chip, star guys. But, ideally, if this means the Leafs have some solid guys come out of their system for the bottom parts of their roster, that would take care of that while hopefully they can add the blue chip prospects this draft and in the next few years.

What I really hope is that Shanny/Hunter/Babcock are difference makers themselves in their decisions and what they see in players. That could help a lot.
