Chances are the compensation picks will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I'd trade that for Dougie Hamilton under most circumstances. The exception being the Leafs current situation and another likely top 5 pick next season.

I don't think it makes sense for the Leafs in their current state. Really I was just thinking of using that fact that he's going to cost a lot for Boston to sign as a means to offer sheet some of their younger RFA's with some upside and increase the chances of getting them.

they will match all of them, they can go over the cap 10 percent in the summer

I just meant that if I were a GM, i'd rather keep my multiple picks than trade for Hamilton who looks good, not great, isn't a difference maker..yet...and is insulated by a good Boston team.playing great team D. Swap him on Toronto and he would be greatly exposed IMHO.

Again, offer sheets should be for great players. Not maybe or good players. Makes no sense otherwise.

Yikes! Pretty much listed all the teams with some sort of cap trouble....cant say I nblame him him tho, I wouldnt mind playing for any oth those teams either. If anything at least he wants to win and without having to carry the whole team. I can respect that.

I agree that's what he should command in return but you hear some media people say they aren't getting much back and they will have to eat salary as well. I don't get that at all.

I don't think they'll eat salary, but I don't think they'll get a top 10 pick either... Somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

Too bad the draft is in Florida. The Panthers make a ton of sense for Kessel to go to.
