agreed. i can't see boston not matching on hamilton.
i prefer connolly, but i think those are the types of guys that should be targeted with offer sheets. $1.7M, might be too much for Boston. only costs a 3rd. - Tumbleweed
That's what I was thinking. Very small risk even if they don't work out. |

That's so lazy though. Saying "I think the Leafs will draft Provorov because McCrimmon knows him from Brandon." is just as vacant as saying "I think the Leafs will draft Marner because of the London connection with Hunter." - BetterCallSaul
but the Leafs will draft Marner
probably 5th after they trade down |

Better trade down if they want him - mr.sir

I must be the only one alive who thinks Hamilton is good, nothing big great, and being severely over rated being insulated by a sound defensive team. |

If they do I would hope it's on merit and not because Hunter knows him a little better than the next prospect. |

Also the kinds of cheap aqcuisitions a rebuilding team should get to supplement the Nylanders and whomever. There's lots of them too. Not god enough to (frank) up your drat position, but young enouh to develop long term under Babcock. Wish the Oilers tried more of this. Also wish the Oilers didnt go through 5 poopty coaches, but what can we do? |

Amen to this. Nerves will play their part though until that pick is made. |

plus if the rumour about ROR happens, and Hanifin is available at 4, they might go that route |

He might be, but its a better gamble to throw a long term on him than a 30 yr old. |

Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to get Hamilton. I just think the salary and cost in picks would be too high for a rebuilding team like the Leafs. |

He thinks the Leafs will be signing Stamkos next summer so you're better off loading up on D-men. He also gambling that Kelly McCrimmon has a big influence on the Leafs draft board. - H8terade
Doesn't he have to be hired first before he has such an influence? |

Not sure what a 30 year old has to do with anything vut I'd probably take him instead of giving up assets for Hamilton just to overpay a player anyways. |

Oh yeah, and long after. I just don't see the point in worrying who they take. They know more than I do and they have final say. Doesn't mean I won't question the pick immediately. |

Chances are the compensation picks will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I'd trade that for Dougie Hamilton under most circumstances. The exception being the Leafs current situation and another likely top 5 pick next season. |

Those offer sheet compensations are dirt cheap now...and whatever salary you pay, 7m or whatever...in 5 years that will be pretty good for a player in his prime, even if he falls somewhat short on expectations.
So cash wise its not too bad, all depends if 2 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd is worth it. |

he's not worth those picks
Boston will have to sign him for 5 plus anyway
no need to fool around with that |

I think he'd be worth those picks if you're a middle of the pack team. No question. |
