Everyone's talking about an offer sheet for Dougue Hamilton. Knowing the Bruins are likely to match and that it's going to make their cap situation even worse I'D like to see the Leafs offer sheet Connelly and/or Spooner. Maybe you sneak one if those guys through?

I suspect that McDavid and Eichel will be as advertised. Then guys like Barzal, Rantanen, Provorov will end up being better than Hanafin/Strome/Marner

and its a fair guess...because more often then not when we review a draft 10 yrs later it looks exactly like that.

Your reason is the latter three are prospects in the Leaf realm and you've been conditioned to believe everything Leaf sucks. You won't know what to do with yourself if the Leafs actually get this pick right. Know how I know this? I won't know what to do either.

And look at the last deep draft of 2003.....lots of awesome players....but they sure as poop werent picked in that order. Marner might be the Next Zherdev for all we truly know.

Could be so. Which is why getting at least one more pick in the top 60 is important. I think the Leafs can get two or three. Even if they're all 2nds.

He thinks the Leafs will be signing Stamkos next summer so you're better off loading up on D-men. He also gambling that Kelly McCrimmon has a big influence on the Leafs draft board.

agreed. i can't see boston not matching on hamilton.

i prefer connolly, but i think those are the types of guys that should be targeted with offer sheets. $1.7M, might be too much for Boston. only costs a 3rd.

Here's the issue with this line of thinking; If Carolina would rather have Provorov and an extra asset over Hanifin, why would Philly, CBJ, and Col get in a bidding war for Hanifin instead of just keeping their assets and drafting Provorov?

NHL readiness... CBJ, Col, and Phi probably feel like they're competitive now and they could use a Hanifin (playing a get-the-puck-out/support role) in their top four next year (and possibly top pair three years from now). Provorov is a project... maybe he can come to the NHL and contribute, but it's rare offensive d-men transition right away in the NHL.

These three teams will believe that they're competitive this year where Carolina will probably spend the next year in limbo.

Provorov seems to be a lot like Rielly.

That's so lazy though. Saying "I think the Leafs will draft Provorov because McCrimmon knows him from Brandon." is just as vacant as saying "I think the Leafs will draft Marner because of the London connection with Hunter."
