Yeah I wasn't trying to crap on RNH, I just don't personally view him as any kind of "can't miss" talent. I think he's certainly a core player, but he will definitely be better suited playing second fiddle to McDavid.
- eichiefs9

He still has top line potential on a balanced roster tho. He's just not ' the man' on most teams. Even if he's the best player he's not the kind of guy that can produce with scrubs on his wings like the elite centres in the league.

RNH is so damn smart on the ice- sound offensively (overhype-potential) and defensively (underappreciated for what he brings)... TBH I cant see any of the centers being moved this year... or moreso I hope we dont - depth a C is something we have not had since - well the 1980s...

I think you would have to seriously consider trading one if it was for a kid like Jones, or a similar reasonably young defenseman. But otherwise, yeah you can never have too many centers. Worst case scenario, you move one or two to the wing. Not that big of a transition.

i'm sorry, did you forget about the scott gomez signing? rangers are the WORST when it comes to FA signings. clarkson was terrible, no excuse for that. but as mentioned above, no one can even remember the last good FA signing the rangers had.

stop trying to deflect attention on other teams when the topic in hand is how bad the rangers are at signing FA.

nice try though. taking the easy way out to try and troll on the leafs didnt work this time AHAHAHAH

- sensnucksnocups

Wow, way to show your hockey ignorance...Scott Gomez had 128pts. in 158 games with the Rangers, THAT is the reason why we got McDonagh for him.... He was traded because he was the only one that would fetch value back. Redden was the bad signing.

Nashville isn't trading Josi or Jones (and obviously not Weber) for Eberle, and Edmonton isn't trading Eberle for Ekholm+ or Ellis+ so we can finish that rumor off.

I just remember watching him against the Rangers this and last year and being very impressed w/ his play. He is getting 60 points w/out any consistent linemates. Hall is always hurt.

Would love to see him w/ two top notch line mates. I think he is living up to potential, but he's not getting the help.

Jones is gonna be excellent in a year or two as well.

Yeah absolutely. He can definitely be a top line center, but I see him more as like a 1B guy than a star #1 center.

Yeah it was more of a theoretical conversation than one actually rooted in reality. You'd have to be insane to trade someone like Jones.

*Im not sure excuses can still be made for these teams anymore, let alone Toronto and Arizona.

And pretty sure Gaborik and Richards was the last big name free agent signing the Rangers had. Both were good signings if you ask me. Gaborik was moved for even better assets, Richards was a casualty of pre CBA finances. Most every other player came via trade. Again, hockey ignorance.

Josi can't be traded. It's not just the fact that he probably should have at least been considered to be a Norris finalist last year, but his contract has to be one of the best in the league. He's a steal at his price.

I know, I was quite obviously kidding. Josi and Tavares have arguably the two best contracts in the entire NHL.

No, I got you lol I was just commenting on how hard it would be to trade him period because of his contract and skill.

Just remember, during times that are totally irrelevant, they won a bunch of cups. Sounds like another franchise I know...

True hockey fans know that a "successful" organization would take a decade of good deep playoff runs, multiple trips to the finals, and winning more playoff series than any other team...rather than 1 cup win followed by years of irrelevancy. How's Carolina doing? Playoffs means $$$$$ for organizations, $$$$ means relevancy and makes it much more likely a club stays in top contention. I would love to win the cup, every hockey fan would. But winning the ultimate prize isn't the true measure of "success". Would anyone want Cam Ward or GS Giguere over the Lundqvist?

I think the organization might want that, but as a fan, I would take the 1 cup all day.

i dunno, i'm kinda torn. Would I love a cup? sure, but I don't know if I would want 1 spring of bliss over year after year after year of exciting competitiveness into June. That 1 cup would be amazing, but at the cost of years of heartbreak of not making the playoffs or just being blown out all the time....i really think I would rather have the excitement of watching 3-4 rounds every season. Obviously both would be perfect but I'm just addressing those that think the Rangers are a failure and the only measure of success being the ultimate prize.
