I feel like the Oilers would want either Weber , Josi or Jones and I don't think Nashville is trading any of those three.....especially for Eberle. And Oilers aren't in much need of prospects right now. Proposal doesn't make much sense to me. Oilers aren't trading their top scorer for Ryan Ellis and a prospect...
- kahammer

I imagine it would be Ellis. Ellis is very good and would be Edmonton's best Dman, but I wouldn't trade Eberle for him. Gotta have quality wingers to surround the C depth with. Yak and Purcell are not 1RWs. Eberle is.

I'd do 16th+ for Ellis. Maybe 16th+57 gets them to 12 or 13 and a centre Nashville wants like maybe Zacha drops there and there might be a deal to be had. Nashville wants a young future 1C. Ellis is on a sweetheart of a contract. No real reason to trade

It's official...you ARE a MORON!!!

No one is saying Leafs didn't win many cups...We are saying its not relevent to the topics(s) being discussed, seeing they haven't won since 1967!!!!!!!!!!! THe Leafs are a total mess in 2015 hopefully for you, Babcock can right the ship.

If Sather is such an idiot, then please enlighten us why NYR has been winning more playoffs series than anyone else over the past 3-5 years?

Give a legit answer and than maybe we can have a conversation. Oh yah, I think everyone on this site would say that your hockey IQ is the lowest

- rrentz

oh i wasnt aware winning playoff series is what mattered. all this time i thought winning the stanley cup was the goal of hockey. years from now children all over the world will be dreaming of winning a playoff series.

LOL

please at least use intelligence if you're going to try and counter my facts.

btw keep the personal insults coming. it will make it even easier for the mods to ban you.

I think WE all know that a Stanley Cup is the goal, so I guess by your definition of success then the Toronto Maple Leafs have been a failure for over 45 years!!!??? And same goes for every other team in the NHL who didn't win the cup in anygiven year? Thats what you think of your team Really??

Seriously though, nothing matters to me in sports as much as NYR winning the cup, and I/We wont be satisfied until it happens, but to say that Sather hasn't put a great team on the ice for the past 5 years or that NYR isn't a threat each year to win the cup is just assanine. NYR has had some great season of late that many fans of other teams, uh like Toronto, would kill for. Stop with the win the cup or bust rhetoric!

Time will tell if the signings/trades/draft picks or lack therof of today were worth the price tomorrow. Until then lets chill out a bit..no?

Which one is the worst, Callahan $5.8 for 5 more years, Phanuef $7 for 6 more years or Kessel $8 for 7 more years? All 3 contracts are untradeable

Is it me or does Ek never take the salary cap into consideration?

If he does, it doesn't show.

Say what ever you want about Sather, but most of the time, he figures a way out of deals that become sour.

Hey Leafs fan - you do realize that the Leafs have never, ever played in the fourth round of the playoffs right?

When they won there Cups there were only 6 teams SIX FRIGGIN TEAMS!!!!!

I really don't think Nashville should make a move at a top six wing before they sort out their future at the number one center position. Ribeiro is 35 and is more of a #2 center than a #1 center, though he's worked out well thus far. Fisher could be a #3 center on many teams, though he also is working out well where he is.

If Draisaitl was in the mix I'd love for the Predators to make a move at him with Wilson and Ellis being the main components of the deal. Wilson brings size and power that would be great alongside McDavid or Nugent-Hopkins. Ellis isn't as well-known by other teams but he can quarterback the first unit of a powerplay and he's also played significant time on the penalty kill. He could very well be developing into a #2 defenseman.

Think it's an awkward position where Edmonton would want Jones for Draisaitl but Nashville wouldn't want to do that for someone who isn't established, and Nashville would want Draisaitl for Ellis but Edmonton wouldn't want to do it for someone of his calibre. I really like Ellis too.

DET has liked Nash for a long time.

Plus they need room for these upcoming prospects. Between Tatar, Sheahan, Nyquist, and Dekeyser and the up and coming, job pushers - Pelky, Ferraro, Marchencko, Ouellet and soon to be Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi and potentially AA, they may have to move bodies for the sake of roster spots.

*It is worth noting that Franzen may not even play again so they most likely be looking to replace that big forward they missed. With the potential buyout of Weiss and Franzen being on LTIR be cap space may be there.

I could see them moving out Nyquist plus too make this happen not sure I would like it yet... but the Wings need to make a move for a biggie to salvage the little left that Z and Datsyuk have.

3 way proposal:

Toronto Gets: Rich Nash

NY Rangers Gets: Kessel and Kadri

Then

Arizona Gets: Kessel and Zuccarello

NY Rangers Gets: 2016 1st round pick and Max Domi

Toronto finally gets a 40 goal scorer, NY drops Nash salary and picks up assets and Arizona gets some offense

Sounds solid to me!

Bubba, did you eat paint chips as a kid? 2 of the teams are actively rebuilding, yet the 3rd team gets the high end prospect and draft pick? And what's with the 2 for 1 deal the Leafs have to make?
