What kind of offers do you think you'd realistically get if he were being shopped? - Cptmjl
I can't even begin to think of who/where..you?
In my mind (as small as it may be) I feel that NYR has to keep him this year unless the offer blows them out of the water, which won't happen b/c of his salary and recent playoff performance.
So my question is...
Why would NYR trade him for what probably will be a low ball offer? |

dump Nash's salary just to sign some other B-superstar to a max contract, to try to dump them in 2 years to sign some other B-superstar to a max contract....ect, ect, ect.
Holik, Kasparitus, Drury, Gomez, Redden, Gaborik, Richards and now Nash? |

Enjoy your wasted 1st round picks! - Guile
I think its completely impossible for you to just have a hockey conversation w/out being a D**k. Like Pitt is sitting in this ivory tower w/ the most amazing picks, trades, and draftpicks...How'd that Despres trade work out for ya??? |

This is my thought process also. Guy is an excellent player obviously it'd be tough to trade him for less than he's worth but there's his playoff production and the fact that every team knows the Rangers need some wiggle room with the cap. Sather has been doing some pretty lop sided trades the last few years it'll be interesting to see what he gets if he's traded. |

I like how when you come out with the first bumhole statement, you turn into such a whiney crying child when someone comes back at you.
If you don't win the Cup, all rental trades become wasted picks, that holds true for all teams. St Louis is now a bad trade for you guys, as has every trade for the Pens since their Cup win.
Despres lost as well, his return was far from ideal, but lets not pretend he would have gotten us through the 1st round. |

I think an offer like Nyquist and a couple of prospects is reasonable, I'd just rather it be for somebody who has a contract already. Nyquist is a RFA probably looking for 4-5 million a year himself - jimbro83
I'm wondering how much his contract, playoff production, and the position Sather is dealing from(close to the cap with players to sign)will affect the return? |

Agree w/ the Holik / Redden/ Drury, but that was a LONG time ago
Richards, and Gaborik were part of the beginning of the NYR who have made runs, and the jury is still out on the 42 goal scoring Nash who carried the Rangers in Sept, oct. and Nov.
Hmmm..Gomez? Can u say Mcdonagh?

This is my 1st statement...how is this inflammatory????
"So right! I think a bag of pucks for Nash would suffice...no?
All it takes is a good playoff series or two and then all this chatter will stop...Hope it comes next year! " |

I don't get why the Rangers would want to trade Nash, not too many players that are as strong as he is defensively and can still put up 40 goals a year. I'd love him on the Pens if it wasnt absolutely impossible to pull off. |

How was mine? Going deep and losing gives you a worse 1st rounder... and the St Louis trade is now wasted picks since you did not obtain the Cup.
Thats how it works for any team... stop crying because the comment was addressing you first. |

I don't see the St.Louis trade as wasted picks. If that trade doesn't happen. the Rangers don't make the finals last year. Also, they weren't gonna sign Callahan to a $7 mil a year deal anyway so he would of walked as a UFA. So they would of got nothing for Callahan in the end. Now St.louis will either walk or sign for a lot less so it does free up the cap space of his $5 mil. The picks you can look as losing one because they sign Hayes and that covered it, plus Rangers picking in the first round never amounts to anything anyway. |

the 28th overall pick this year and last year. we made the finals and we signed Kevin Hayes for nothing last summer. I am good.
