You are very hung up on this "new toy" phrase. I never once said he would be anything less than a second line center did I? Am I missing something, or are words just being put in my mouth?

Your statement of him being top 15 since the Crosby draft is a bit out there. Let's stick to facts.

Love the speed and two way game, agreed on jones but his numbers weren't exactly eye popping either.

Threw Hoffman in there because of how many high profile RFA's Ottawa's got to deal with this year.

He could be the replacement for Moulson in a few years.

- Sabresfan-365

Looking at the Sens, they have Zibanejad, Hoffman, Chiasson and Stone as RFA's to re-sign and have only $9.2 M in cap space. They never spend to the cap.

A little out there yes, but not ridiculous. There have been 10 drafts between 2005-2014 that include both Crosby and Reinhart.

If you figure the top 2 picks in each draft are pooled that's 20 players.

Some years (like 2013) Reinhart doesn't get top 2 or even 3 consideration, some years he probably is the 2nd best prospect.

I like this thought. Who do you like the most in this group, and who do you think is most dispensable from Ottawa's perspective?

Did those off the top of my head, with a little research i bet that list gets longer. He's great, I think he could be key member of a cup winning team but it may take him a little longer.

if karlsson was a better prospect, he would have been taken in the first round

may I suggest an excellent book for reading comprehension?

based on scouting reports before they played an NHL game

Reinhart is in the top 15 between the crosby draft and this draft coming up

Zibanejad is the guy I love the most but they'll get him re-signed. That leaves Hoffman and Stone in my view that could be had.

edit- They'll throw big money after Zinajejad or Stone but not both.

If i recall Reinhart was ranked 3rd as well. Lot's of hype around Larsson and Landeskog in that 2011 draft. And who could forget Fail for Nail and gretzky drooling over Turris.

Nope. You were hyper focused on karlsson who was a second round pick...what about the other guys on the list? He was number 2 in a weak draft, the numbers just don't add up. The best he could possibly be would be 20 and in some of those drafts he would drop down to 3-5. You can say top 30 in that date range....not top 15.

Sorry.

I think Zibanejad and Stone go nowhere, Hoffman could be had for the right price, Chiasson, Lehner probably on the block.

They might be able to give them both long term deals if they can move some salary out (cowen)

It's really easy to point out successes over the past 10 seasons.

We're talking about how good Reinhart the prospect is. He is a better prospect than Claude Giroux was and it's not even close

They could also trade one of their goalies to free up more space to sign Zibanejad and Stone. If they both get Turris money (3.5 per) that only leaves them with a little more than 2 in cap space. Not sure Melnyk would want to spend that high.

Stone would fill a nice spot on RW, but he had such a nice year for them, hard to picture them not making room for him. I'd love him in blue and gold though. Gotta figure they make Zibs happy too, somehow. Either way, it's going to be an interesting offseason.

Moving Anderson and Cowen probably takes care of that.
