I think he's got some value but not sure him & his brother get a top 10 pick. - ob18
I think they do...depending on who is available at 8. Schenn cand be a 25-30 goal scorer...luke is a decent shutdown guy if paried with the right partner...both young with a ton of experience. |

i dont think its that far off. columbus is gonna be pressured to get into the playoffs next year. - PhillaBully
Assuming they stay healthy, I think they make it too. I really like their lineup.

i think columbus is at the stage where adding some youg kids with a ton of experience is going to benefit them and the flyers can get two decent prospects that can mature. |

i think its a win win for both teams. jackets get a good center + a decent shut down guy...they are both known quantities with potential to grow more. for a team in columbus position i think it makes sense. |

Luke was a healthy scratch on one of the worst defenses in the NHL.
Brayden had trouble producing on a line with G and Jake.
Not saying they can't get better, but I wouldn't pass on a top 10 pick in a deep draft for those two. Especially since Luke is on a one year deal. If you like him, why not sign him next offseason. |

he played pretty well with couts and has shown a lot of flashes in the past...also luke is pretty decent when paired with a decent defender. |

I think (at best) B Schenn lands you a late first (22-25) and Luke lands you an early 2nd (35-40). I don't think you'd get the #8 pick for the 22-25 and 35-40 picks. |

Hakstol has never coached at the NHL level, and he's making the same salary as coaches like Michel Therrien, Alain Vigneault, and Dave Tippett...
Ummmm. Why?
You would think Hakstol would have been able to turn the UND facilities, and all the stud players he coached into a few championships.
Here is a valid question... If Hakstol couldn't win a championship at the collegiate level, what makes anyone think he can win one at the NHL level? - PLindbergh31
why? because he was clearly hextall's guy. took him 3 pitches to get him. for hakstol to uproot from his hardworking but comfy nest in ND, he needed to get paid. i don't think 2 million is outrageous, even though it's a 4 fold increase.
i ask you...what difference does it make? it's not connected to the cap. he could make $5 or $50 million. matters not.
i think he can win at the NHL level because he's got 11 years of head coaching experience at a top program which includes every success but winning the final game which is a 1 and done. anything can happen in that situation. he will be given every tool and support mechanism to win. there's zero doubt about that. winning will take a little time though.
also just because he didn't win at the collegiate level does not automatically mean he won't win at the next level. they're not mutually exclusive. this is not an exact analogy, but how many times did Edison fail on his light bulb until the didn't? he eventually succeeded.
i like the move, and i don't see this as hextall trying to look like the smartest guy in the room. i don't get that vibe from him. at all. he wants to win more than anything...especially here. think about his motivation to win a cup in this town. do you really think that's predicated on his giving the appearance of being the smartest guy in the room? i don't. not for one second. |

for drouin I would see if tampas pick, hagg/ghost, manning, rights to gus, 1st next year would get it done
doubtful cant hurt to ask though. |

I agree, but teams aren't trading top 10 picks for role players. |

i wouldnt exactly call brayden a role player. i think he can be more if hes left to play center. Problem is there is no room for him on the flyers. |

Top 10, probably not, but I could see Dallas swapping #12 for both Schenns and Chicago's 2nd |
