Geez, im all for moving Sharp for clearing space, but you would hope the return is better than the way that sounds
- FourFeathers773

usually a year early is better than a year late but having a cup dangling changes that.............I'm glad bowman kept him for this run.
The sharp negotiation will be about trying to pry anything out of DT to take his whole contract and remember that Bicks was one of his kid's too

Down by a goal with over a minute left goalie pulled and Stamkos is glued to the bench. He's Tampa's best player, one if the top goal scorers in the league and he has the fifth most minutes of ice time of all Tampa forwards and that's with only 11 forwards dressed. Imagine if Q did that to Patrick Kane or Jonathan Toews? But as a Hawk fan I hope Cooper continues to play Stamkos this way, talk about out smarting yourself!

No one understood why Cooper didn't have Stamkos on the ice. Very odd. I hope it was a brain cramp and not intentional.

Here? Venom and vitriol. No! No different than some of the stuff seen here and elsewhere about Sopel, Walker, Bickell or Montador. Teams/fans have goats.

His worst game of the year was without question the OT game against Vancouver around Feb. His plus minus was solid but he was protected more easlily with TVR around and Oduya looking bad too. The team was hot in the 1st half. When needed he looked bad. He was on the ice for both early goals in game 1 against ANA. He made some confident passes and some better plays in Tampa so maybe he shows something but I agree - rather see him elsewhere.

And don't forget how Leddy was mercilessly droned on and crucified on these boards last year Tred. But I'm sorry, or boy Rundblad needs more time and be judged more objectively? Please. A total train wreck.

And how many pucker up and hyperventilate when he's on the ice?

I'm petty sure Patrick Sharp gets more respect around the league from G.M.'s than he does on this board where he is just an expensive contract to dump for cheap. Not many teams have a player with his name twice on the Stanley Cup.

Don't you think the Habs would rather have Sharp skating on right wing for a couple of seasons instead of Dale F'n Weise? The Rangers have employed Marty St. Louis well past his best before date. How about the Winnipeg Jets, Florida, Ottawa, Calgary, Colorado, Detroit looking to get to the next level and needing a very competitive veteran to help their kids along?

I wouldn't even be that surprised if Stanbo held on to #10 thru next season. He has more value than the national association of scrap dealers think.

The guys on the NHL Network actually brought up a pretty good point regarding Stamkos TOI. I believe the other 4 are on the PK. Their suggestion was Stamkos should on the PK.

Though him not being on the ice at the end of the game makes no sense at all. I will take it though.

Well Danault is listed at 200lbs on some sites. If Kruger weighs more than a buck seventy-five I would be stunned.

Danault has played center pretty exclusively this season. Stronger? Probably. A lot will be determined by who does what this off season. Meaning that if you are a prospect in the Hawks system and you aren't working your ass off to be ready for camp, you are one of 2 things. An idiot or a career minor leaguer.

The other thing about Sharp is he knows that on almost every team he's a top six forward yet he accepts his role on the third line like a pro and does what's asked of him and does it well. While I wouldn't be surprised to see him back next season I expect he will garner interest and the Hawks should get value back for him.

And to think some want to rip the A right off of his jersey.

There is a stigma attached to tendering an offer sheet amongst GMs. It also takes a player actually signing one. In my view its bad business for the player.
right or wrong it puts the "difficult" label on them. Whether I believe it to be true or not doesn't matter. Its the perception that will be out there. Lord knows perceptions die hard.

I happen to think Kruger is among the best, if not the best, at what he does. If anything I think the Hawks would trade his RFA rights before it even got to that point. JMO.

Backes signed an offer sheet with Vancouver. I don't think he got a stigma attached to him at all.

I hope Desi is back...preferably as a wing who can take a few draws and occasionally pitch in at 4C if needed.
- Ogilthorpe2

A fighter is nice in the regular season as well. Hitch has been extended in St. Louis you know.

Queue red ass snark and/or photo.

Desi works great with Shaw and Krueger and he seems to have a lot of character. Good guy to have around for the kids to emulate.

Remember, red ass doesn't matter when the boys are getting their arses run out of the rink and being intimidated.

Old school has no application here.

Hmmm.??? Pretty regular tactic during the regular season. How many times did we want a push back so the big boys with skill could take over?

I have nothing but respect for Sharp's body of work but he's absolutely positively the most likely big contract to go ........you are not going to get a #1 for him anymore unless you take back a ton of his salary but that's why you're moving him.....it's how it works when players salaries don't line up with revenues and you have a hard cap

Stamkos had a look of shock/anger when they panned to him on the bench and after the game skating off. Thought it had more to do with Cooper than the score.

That, plus his handling of Drouin (Morrow dressed and a 7th D man over the 2nd pick?).... his pressers... Sort of reminds me of Laviolette in 10. Sort of acts like he invented the game. Definitely a great coach but his ego may be getting inflated a tadddddd....
