by who? a couple of fans who think he's worth a lot in a trade?

most objective people realize that he's a young goalie, who has lots of potential, but has struggled with inconsistency (as most young goalies often do).....at this point, i wouldn't be surprised if he flops, and i wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a top 10 goalie in the league..............he's shown flashes of both.

Sorry man, but the Sens thread is a mess. I don't know who they are, but there's a lot of them that keep comparing Toews with Ottawa players, Pageau with Giroux, Bergeron with another player and Karlsson being the best player in the league. One even said Bobby Ryan is one of the top players in the league and he does actually give a poop. It's a mess. It's like having a poop load of Stee-Dot's is a room bouncing comparisons off each other.

And has concussion issues. Injuries can have a huge effect on goalies. Markstrom was a lot like Lehner and got injured. He worked through it and is looking great again. Lehner may get through it and may not. Im not taking a risk on him at this point though. I'd take Markstrom over Lehner right now in a heart beat.

my point was simply that it's hard to call young goalies overrated, because you never know how they're going to turn out.

i remember lots of people saying that price was going to end up flopping cuz he didn't light the world on fire right away........hell, i remember lots of habs fans pissed that they traded halak instead of price......and we all know how well that turned out.

i understand why most people wouldn't want to take the chance on acquiring lehner, just like i'd be nervous moving him..........because you simply don't know how these guys are going to turn out.

i remember about 3 years ago, there was an oiler fan (he had bill murray as his avatar) who said he wouldn't move sam gagner for erik karlsson because the oil needed centers more than d-men.

Sure...but he has do something to get his value back up there. He's a good goalie, but he doesn't look elite, or even close to it.

I dont really care what the you think you will get for Lehner in the end the oilers will trade the 33rd and something for a goalie, and trade the 16th and something for a dmen, then sign one of Oduya, Martan, Beauchemin. After all that, every oilers fan, will feel like they won the lotto, and everyone else will be cheering against us for the next 10 years. That is all that needs to be said.

And thats why the price on him would be very low, there is too much risk and uncertainty around him. some team will probably pay the price to get him but they have to have back up plans or a good goalie pipeline to help in case he flounders.

it is what it is..........a little over the top, but i have no issue with players being passionate about playing for their country. if a canadian player/team did that to the russians or americans, i'd think it was funny.

Anyways, i think we can all agree that if you are in need of a goalie you have to go to Vancouver. At any given time, they will always have 3 of the top 2 goalies in the NHL.
