Jaybo wouldnt be terrible, at least he can skate still. Buff might cost too much and Chara would be a cap hit nightmare.

If the Blues are looking to shuffle the deck, getting JayBo might be a good safe target

I've said this earlier too, but STL might be great trade partners.

Elliot and Jaybo shoudl be involved in a package if the Oielrs try and trade with them.

Honestly, Chia might actually make a call for this type of package.

Allen replaces Elliott as the #1 starter, and he is proven.
Jaybo is expendable, especially with Shattenkirk and Pietro in the lineup.

We can provide them with cap relief and a prospect or 2, along with a draft pick via long term.

Those look fair and promising on paper, but I think they move Oshie and Berglund before they move any Dmen. They seem to be taking a huge portion of the blame.

That might be true, but Chia has to be aggresive and at least try to make a phone call.

Chia seems to be exploring all avenues, hes calling teams about goalies who are not even to be available, im sure he is surveying the land.

He has the ultimate opener...I have the 16th overall pick, do you want it and what would you give for it....only that? (frank) you then, hangs up with a smirk on his face

Don't forget that Chicago wants to keep the core intact.
If you were in the GM's shoe's, don't you want to keep Seabrook + Keith together in the long run?

Just called taking advantage of a team in cap space trouble.

However, I can see our 16th for Hjal done straight up if the terms are right.
We mgiht need to add Marincin in there too.
Don't forget that this is a really deep draft year and there are some good defensive options availabe at the 16th pick for Chicago in the future for them to develop.

- EdmHockeyMan

It's much easier to replace wingers than defensemen. Chicago can ship Bickell out and sign a guy at half his salary who will probably be better than him. Sharp hurts to lose but if they can take advantage of a team in win now mode they could be set for the future.

Scrivens + 2nd (2015) + Marincin + 2nd (2016) + 3rd for Jaybo + Elliott
or
Scrivens + 16th (2015) + Marincin for Jaybo + Elliott

I can see one of those happening if the terms are right.

Technically both if they utilize the back handed slapper.

This... plus what do they care if they lose Sharp- fresh off another cup victory- (in a week or so)- they can sit back + retool a bit...

Our 16th is going to be the key in landing a top 2 defender, we just need to use it well.

I agree.
This might be why the Hawks and Oilers won't be good trading partners.
What they are willnig to give up is not what we need here in Edmonton.

I doubt that is their mentality. They want to win every season, which is why a guy like Seabrook will take a cheap deal to stick around.

And I'm sure he will. Just like Mact did. Everyone seems to forget Bob McKenzie and Dreger and others all saying Craig Mactavish was the hardest working gm in the NHL for the past couple years. He talked to and called everyone. But when the response from the other side always starts with Eberle, Hall or RNH its tough to talk to others seriously. Chia has already alluded to this as well.

I dont mind Jaybo but I dont see him as a fit. We need someone on the right side. Unless we can convert Klef or Nurse to the right side we have no one on the right side capable of top pair.

A guy like Bickell might be a nice addition to a small team like Edmonton. Something like Purcell(half salary retained) for Bickell + Raanta might be an avenue worth visiting.

Well, I mean if you look at that trade, it benefits both teams.

Edm
-Gets a consistent starter that is proven
-Gets a good top 2 defender

STL
-Cap space relief
-Helps boost their prospect pool in the long term cause right now, STL doesn't have that many prospects for the neartime future
-Provides Allen with the comfort that his team relies on him as the starter (Confidence boost) Everybody plays better when they know that their team trusts them

Sharp isn't exactly irreplaceable but he's still got value to a team with limited depth up front. I see what you mean though.

Jaybo - Klefbom
Fayne - Marincin
Nurse - Schultz

I gotcha.
Without MacT, we wouldn't have that 16th pick which I know will be crucial this offseason.
All I can say is that this offseason is going to be really exciting.
