I hope they do take Strome. which means we can take Marner.
I would take a guy like Tyler Johnson over Joe Thornton any day.
size is important yes, I don't dispute that, but a good crashing the net system can make up for that size.

The thing is that our pick is in a weird spot. No one we really need ranked in that area. I wonder if some one else would trade down a few spots and give us an extra pick?

I think it would be better to use it in a package to acquire a Top 2 Defender.

I like Samsonov but I would still rather the Oilers package that pick and try to bring in a solid defenseman. Chicago apparently wants a 1st round pick...

Don't know who EDM will take at 16 but did have multiple other scouts suggest EDM should be looking at RUS G Samsonov, No. 19 on our list.

Samsonov perceived by many as foundation/building block stopper, like Vasilevsky in TB, and EDM doesn't have one. Need patience, tho.

I like hearing that out of Bob.

16th and Teddy P for Sharp and something else

(you want to get rid of Teddy right?)

I really don't think we need Sharp.
We have good depth on the wings with Hall, Purcell, Yak, Eberle, and Pouliot.

I can see 16th + Marincin + 2nd for Seabrook. However, we mgiht need to add a 3rd to sweeten up the deal.

We don't need to get rid of Purcell yet and he provides us with some Depth on the wings in case of Injury; our main focus shoudl be on a Defender.

No you dont need sharp, but if you can use the 16th and a cap dump in Purcell for Sharp and anotehr asset to give the Hawks the cap relief they want, a good pick, but they have to give up a good prospect like Hartman in the process.

Could be an interesting move. Seems over complicated to meet both the Oilers and Hawks needs, so I cant see them being good trading partners.

Hawks and Jets maybe?

I don't care if Teddy stays or goes. I don't think Sharp is a player the Oilers have any interest in. The obvious target would be Seabrook.

I just see Seabrooks taking a sweet heart deal to stay with the Hawks, if they win another cup, why would he rock the boat trying to ask for 7. I bet he will just extend his contract at the same cap hit that he has now.

Jets can use their St Louis pick and Burmistrov to get a really good player at the draft. I wonder if they would trade Sharp within the division? Probably not but they are a good option for them

That is tough.
But I think I would try to get Seabrook before Big Buff.
If you watched Seabrook in the last round of the playoffs, then you'll know why.

But what is the possibility of getting both?
The total price might be our 16th, next year's first, two 2nd rounders, Marincin, a 3rd, and Musil.
However, that is a long shot.

Jets would really want Sharp, especially with that Kane trade in the books.
Sharp can provide the Jets with that elite finishing.

I'd be fine giving up those assets for those two players. I would just want an agreement on a contract extension in place prior to the trade occurring so we get more than just the one year of both those players.

I heard a rumour that Seabrook would waive to play in Edmonton but he would want a max contract if he were to do so. Just a rumour but I like to dream.

i can't see any way the hawks let seabrook go.....atleast not for a package the oilers would likely want to pay. ie. you'd probably have to brutally overpay to get him.

he's part of their core, almost as much as keith, toews, and kane......and in fact i would argue is the most untouchable piece on that team, after those 3.

I think Jets resign Stafford as he was a really nice fit, but yes they could use Sharp.

Wheeler Little Sharp
Ladd Scheifele Stafford

Thats a pretty solid top 6
