The economy has been down for 7 years , Try again !

Last time the economy was in the toilet was in the late 80's and early 90's .
The real estate market went with it because they raised rates to 13% and 14% and people couldn't afford the interest let alone the underlying principal .

Today they realize that inflation is the lesser of two evils and are keeping rates low.

If you don't mind , I won't be taking the real estate or financial advice of a (frank)ing troll on a hockey rumor site !

- .HOHO.

Interest rates were 20+% then... 14% would have been a (frank)ng bargain...

I refuse to go to cash grabs.

I'll go to the stag, because if it is done well, it's worth the price of admission.

I'll go to the wedding.

But you aren't pulling money out of me to go to some stupid stag and doe. Sorry, your wedding is not a business.

- Atomic Wedgie

I only wish I could get away with that. Hell, my wife wanted me to go to a stag and doe last Saturday for the nephew of one of her friends who we see about once every 3 years. She was p*ssed when I chose to stay home and watch a movie with my son.

Missed that Wedgie post, but he's bang on! If you need to host a fundraiser to have your wedding where everyone will be paying for themselves at least and more in the cash and gifts they bring with them, then your wedding needs to be scaled down.

Blew a ton of money on the stag, but at least it was a weekend of drinking, gambling, golf and debauchery in Niagara Falls... and the Habs losing Game 1 against Tampa!... and the Mayweather Pacquaio fight (which was horrible)

I was the oldest guy there since the groom's dad couldn't make it

Back in the day, we had stags down to a science.

Hockey game followed by all you can drink beer and pizza and wings at a restaurant/bar, followed by...ahem...other activities.

I think you'd pay about $60-$80, and that would get you an hour of hockey, and all the food and beer.

When we left the restaurant/bar, you were back to paying out of your own pocket.

You'd usually end up raising about $600-$1000. Enough for a bit of pocket money for the honeymoon, but nothing more.

It was so damned good that we always joked we should hold a couple of stags a year for guys we made up.

"Sorry honey, I have to go to Stan's stag tonight."

"Who is Stan?"

"I can't believe you don't remember Stan. He was my best friend in high school, or a guy I used to work with. Either one. Gotta go, bye!"

I realize that I'm inviting ridicule here, but I never really got why people spend so much for a car.

I have a minivan that is now 10 years old. We put 15,000 km on it a year. That's for two drivers.

We keep on thinking about buying a new car, and then we realize we don't need a new one. We really only drive on the weekends for groceries or to go to hockey games. Maybe a few weekends away.

If I spent $80,000 on a new Porsche Cayenne, I just don't see how my drive to Loblaws or my kid's hockey game would be all that more enjoyable than my 10 year old minivan.

Hell, it would be worse, because I'd be furious when the kid spilled something all over the back seat.

Yeah, I'm a grumpy old man.

I totally respect this opinion, I really do. But, you need to appreciate that some of us are car people. A car is like art ...well, art that depreciates every inch that it moves ...but it's still art.

Model S? Nice.

And I should add that overspending on cars happens more often in self employed scenarios. I wouldn't pay the price myself.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the taxpayers of Canada.

Yes, I deserve a punch now.

A friend of mine has one.

You'll freak out at how cheap the front seats are. Other than that? It's fan(frank)ingtastic.
