Staal doesn't look like he's going to be retiring any time soon...

and unless Carolina is planning to trade him, it's not far fetched to think that they'll try making a push to win before he retires, especially if they don't have anyone to take his place.

Picking 4 & 5 and possibly 11 if FLA would want Kessel would be a huge start in this rebuild.

I don't know about this. Seems to be heavily favoring the Leafs in this deal. I would love to see it happen. Hanifin and Marner is a great way to begin the rebuild, but Semin isn't what he used to be and his numbers show it.

Crazier things have happened and it's not like we haven't seen teams swap top picks. Look what Burkie did to get the twins in Vancouver, it was sheer genius.

If Toronto can land this trade, they have a very bright future on the back end with Reilly and Hanifin and a quality forward in Marner who can be a legit top three player. Fingers crossed.
