I hated the $4 mil a year extention to reward one good playoff performance and have been a big advocate of shipping him off since based on his Casper the friendly ghost effort during the majority of the season. I know he had the one monster playoffs but has not repeated that since IMO. With the looming cap sale I was hoping he produced to make him enticing to another team but at this rate I think he goes to another team with a promising player similar to the Gilmour deal (Gilmour and Dumont for Grosek for those unfamiliar).

That trade you listed is in the all time category for blunders.

That Dumont, Nylander, Sullivan line was fun to watch.

That's the world of professional sports...........control the release of information regarding your team.

I'm sure Josh Mora would love to buy Tracey a glass of wine and listen to her tremble over the threats she got for that Hayes information.

- SteveRain

Fixed.

The Hawks and McDonough may be excellent at it but name a pro team in free US/North American sports that aren't control freaks regarding the release of information.

YOU saw me fall down those stairs at the Hawk Lightning game?
I put those black panst on the other day and it had a hole in the knee.
It kinda was like the video, maybe a little shorter...got right up, showed no pain, shrugged it off, lol!

I so want to be there and the Hawks are winning in the final minutes and see the bolts fans start exiting to their cars so i can yell the classic, RATS! Rats on a sinking ship pointing to them all....

- wiz1901

Same section, I came down to see you after but that was a long time ago. The Hawks look much better than they did in late Feb. Tampa has regular season bragging rights as I see it. If you do go there will be extra police precense, the Ranger faithful proved to be more like animals than humans, just classless. The Bolts know how to play defense but like the Ducks, their goalie can be caught off guard and is prone to the easy goal. I'm sure Q is breaking down tape on him as we speak. Time to cut those pants into shorts Wiz, Angus Young style.

I don't know many that have fired a postgame host of being critical of the team. Or revoking press passes.

yeah, everyone does it..........but the hawks go above a vast majority of most teams.

At the time he represented one of the few young ofensive players they had drafted that was legit.

Hated that trade at the time but tried to warm to it until Grosek began floating around in a Hawk uniform.

Hawks got several players from that BUF team that made the Cup on Hasek's back. They were a grindy team but looked better than they were largely because of the Dominator.

I know Dale signed Curtis Brown but didn't the hawks also have a broken down Peca at one point?

You know who was just as excited the hawks won Saturday?

Ron Hextall.

He got 2, 2nd round picks for Timonen now that the Hawks have made the Cup Final.

IF...the Hawks win the Cup this year, they can give him or anyone else another two more for all I care

The Suzanne Collins thing stunk too.

Don't kid yourself, given the same set of circumstances I woudnt be surprised if most pro sports teams did the same.

Another apples to oranges scenario but Cubs management appeared to do nothing when Steve Stone was pretty much harrassed by coaches and players for merely calling the game as he saw it during "In Dusty we Trusty's" regime.

Tampa has a matchup problem. They are top heavy in the top two lines and CHI has at least two defensive shutdown line, you can argue 3. Tampa doesnt really have one big shutdown line

Their bottom 6 provides virtually nothing, and if this continues, Chicago should win easily, because I have confidence that Toews/Kruger lines along with Keith/Seabrook/Hammer/Oduya can shut down the johnson and stamkos lines

Callahan 19 games played, 4 points
Boyle 19 games played, 2 points
JT Brown 18 games played, 1 point
Pacquette 18 games played, 1 point
Namestikov 12 games played, 1 point
Morrow 18 games played, 1 point

- FourFeathers773

this is the glaring and obvious "match-up" issue for the bolts...oh I am sure the NBC dolts will beat this one just like the they did about those nasty testosterone laden ducks laying waste to those poor over worked hawk dman foursome.

unless the bolts d contribute or CC becomes leaky vs this group..the bolts are going to have vey hard time scoring not to mention they will be just a wee bit pre-occupied handling the hawks offensive star power.....

don't want to get over my skies..unsually much more sanguine if not negative (not me!?!?!?) in previous series but this could b over in 5.

I know what you mean Steve. It's pretty crazy here in DC with the football team -- Dan Snyder is completely nuts. They even refused to give one of the local stations here the ability to cover from the team's headquarters. The station's reporters had to stand across the street. Crazy and completely petty. Not many teams that bat$hit insane trying to control the message, but certainly the Hawks are above & beyond numerous other American sports franchises.

Agreed.

Tampa celebrated on Friday like they won the cup.

The Hawks celebrated Saturday like they beat Phoenix in January.

Tampa very well could be just happy to be there........we will see..........they are a good fast, skilled team. Hedman has really developed. Bishop always seems to give the Hawks trouble.

however, experience this time of year is invaluable.

- SteveRain

Exactly, we all remember what happened when a Crosby and Malkin led Pens team went to the Final against a veteran Red Wings team. They got schooled. Look at what happened when the Hawks went to the conference finals in 2009 and got schooled by a veteran Detroit team (may have been the same Wings team but either way the point is experience matters)

You are correct sir! My mistake. I'm pretty sure he was mentioned in rumors at times or maybe he was just a guy I liked as a grindy center; but yep...never wore the Indianhead.

Agreed....somebody didn't do their due diligence on Collins OR just didn't think it would be found. Either way, felt bad for her......not like it happened on the Hawks watch.

Funny you mention that Stone thing......I read that book by Wojehowski (Spell) on the 2004 Cubs. Amazing insight to all the crap Stone took from guys like Alou or Merker calling up to the press box, but what was interesting was that Sosa had Stone's back.

Mornin' D....

still don't care for what they did to Suzanne Collins...as well as Josh Mora. Tracy knows not to ask the tough questions as Steve Rain alluded to.

As far as Steve Stone...the guy is the gold standard in color guys on the broadcast and knows the game better than anyone.

Meanwhile Ron Hextall is having a very good morning...maybe they'll take Bickell after shafting us on KT. Although their cap problems are probably worse than ours. But Bowman should have a marker coming from Hex after that.

Name one BIG market club in any sport that is worse than the Hawks. Bet you won't find one team.

That is interesting. Will have to check the book out.

The whole calling up to the press box thing was beyond ridiculous and it's too bad Dusty and his players were more interested in spin control and their "The World is Agaisnt US" narrative as opposed to getting 5 more outs in 2003.
