No. Neil Smith. The GM before Tallon when Pulford wasn't putting his nicotine stained hands in there - Elbows15
From Wiki, Hawk GM's...
Mike Smith October 2, 2000 October 24, 2003
Bob Pulford (Interim) October 24, 2003 January 1, 2004
Bob Pulford January 1, 2004 June 21, 2005
Dale Tallon June 21, 2005 July 14, 2009
Stan Bowman July 14, 2009
Unless there was a guy directing things from behind Pully other than the Old Man, think you mean Mike Smith the former WPG GM. |

Neil Smith was with the Rangers. Mike Smith was the GM for Chicago. Good with drafts (for the most part) but terrible with NHL level trades... - powerenforcer
Somewhat. Drafted Keith, Seabs and Tuomo but loved Euros and drafted Yakubov and Vorobiev at numbers 10 and 11 in the same draft...2004 or 2005 I believe. |

Yes, I should have said he was a better drafter of lower rounds than first rounds. |

Rundblad and Tim Erixon were the 3rd pairing and played.

Sorry if it wasn't clear but that was sort of my point. They did give those guys time in the NHL to burn a year. I see that as the limit they will do for Nillsen. He will not be guaranteed a spot. I could see them telling AN that he can get a look but it is their decision if he sticks. He can take it or leave it. I really doubt he makes that demand though. He did it with the Isles because he had outplayed Poulin. If he were doing that here he'd be crazy. - tredbrta
Nillson may be better than he looked in the World Championships this year where a weak glove hand was exposed badly. Catching the puck was a big problem. |

Cumiskey played v TBL in February. I was there and he was noticeably fast. Got sent down right after that I believe. |

Read somewhere he gave up some weak ones in the KHL playoffs as well. Numbers were still solid in the POs though. Be interesting to see what he does with some coaching from Waite.
Raanta has obviously been passed by Darling so I would think he is the goner if AN signs. |

2000. That draft was legendary. Not a single useful NHL player out of like 9 picks. The unibrow was the only one even close, and he was just the cream at the top of the toilet bowl.
Edit: 15 picks. |

I would be stunned if he is back. I just don't see how he is going to be able to turn down some of the offers he likely to get in FA. Who could blame him?
And if he does sign somewhere I sure the hell hope they understand what he is going to bring and not expect him to be a #1 d-man. He may, just may, be able to handle the top pair but he is at his best in a 2nd pair spot with another solid defensive defenseman. - Elbows15
If he's not offered 5.5 mill Hawks have to match. If you consider quality of replacement, and then you look at KT playing in the Duck series... It would be a million times scarier if you can't trust your second pairing.
You keep him off the market any way you can, unless stanbo can pull off a home run switcharoo as he did signing Hossa and losing Havlat. |

Same draft year that the Islanders grabbed RIck Dipietro and Raffi Torres with the 1st and 5th overall picks.
And Henrik Lundqvist went in the 7th round. |

I'd keep Raanta AND Darling. Knowing you cannot keep CC, Sharp, and Oduya... Who do you sign? Considering quality of replacement, Oduya is a no brainer. After that, I'd put them both on the market to see who gets the better return.

Yep.
And the Leaf players are Mahovlich and Horton |

Rangers couldnt beat Tampa, but the fans on the rangers blog are convinced the rangers would have gone on and beat Chicago
Not sure how that works.
Just as much offense, cup winning goalie, high end top 4 defense for matchups, stronger depth at forward... |

If I am right and that is Pilote, its from before 1965. Pilote was named captain before the start of the 61-62 season. |
