personally im pushing for strome or marner
but hanifin and rielly together in the future doenst sound too shabby either
i just feel we have a decent amount of D prospects, enough that we should be able to improve on the D end in time, where up front we dont have a ton of top 6 talent in the works...nylander and brown are both somewhat small so a bigger strome doesnt sound too shabby at all - Lucas Neilson
I'm still firmly in the camp of the Goat!
I also think this Verhaege fella will be a pretty solid center in time |

im not worried about that pick at all - wel get someone glorious.
im hoping that 24th pick or whatever it is, will be a dandy and end up being like a top 10 pick.
In Mark Hunter we trust. - Lucas Neilson
When Babcock gave praise to Hunter, we finally as Leaf fans have someone with a great mind for finding talent and drafting. |

They just have to hire McCrimmon and Babcock's two best hockey men will be Leafs staff |

Florida is by no means a contender.
Only has three very good players:
Luongo, Barkov, Ekblad. |

#1C, #1D and #1G?
Pretty (frank)ing good start
Also, if you don't consider Bjugstad to be a very good player, you should probably get your eyes checked.
They are a good team. |

I'm more than OK with us drafting OHL players, they still have other scouts and wont pass on players over seas but i love me some Canadian talent. |

I'm a big supporter of the "draft the best player available no matter the position".
Drafting a "need" isn't a guarantee that said need can't be filled by other means (trade).
But drafting a great player is a guarantee that you'll have at least a good chance that said player becomes an important part of the team. The position doesn't matter. |

Look at who Crosby was playing with in 2005-2006 when he had 102pts. - Pecafan Fan
What would you say if I used Crosby as a direct comparable for Kessel? |

Not the point.
Elite players put up elite numbers no matter who they play with. |

I agree. You're giving your team the best chance of success and there's less pressure on the guy to fill the hole and be successful there because it's NEEDED. |

Good player but not better than Kadri for example.
I agree he's 4th best player on Florida.
There are quite a few teams that are way better just in the East.
In fact, Kessel would instantly be the best player on the Florida team if traded to them.

yea, don't need to draft high to fill in the rest. Especially if you're trading for one of those missing pieces. |

JVR Malkin Kessel

Komarov Bozak Leivo
Booth y z
Rielly Polak
Gardiner Robidas
Brewer Erixon
Bernier

Lupul and Phaneuf need to go.
Kadri is gone as well in the trade for Geno.
Need to sign / trade for a 2nd line LW.
And get a few good bottom 6 guys (Goc, Winnik etc.)
No cup fighter, but at least a decent team now while not losing the rebuild (by trading Lupul, Phaneuf, Kadrid for picks and prospects). - MaximusAurelius

There is WAY too much value being placed on these first rounders, especially out of the top 5.
30-35 goal guys are worth gold. That is why it is stupid to sell low after a year where the team gave up.
Moving young established assets like JVR for a pimply faced 18 year old or two does not make any sense, unless it's a can't miss like the top 5 picks are supposed to be this year. - Rang
Picks outside the top 10 over the last decade are a smorgasbord of disappointment with the occasional gold nugget. People (on here) place way too much value on them. |
