good luck then. No interest at all from an Isles fan. Cap retained? Maybe 2016 first. No cap retained? I'd rather not commit that much salary cap to a guy who doesn't show up for large portions of every season. - Isles_since_6
I doubt they retain salary, most likely take back a contract with 3-4 years with some 3-4 million on it to help make money work.
It could still be a decent player though.
They are not going to give him away for free, still a great player and a huge asset |

i think you grab a pretty good prospect at #11
whoever's left of zacha/brazal/provorov/werenski/rantanen/crouse maybe - Tumbleweed
agreed. all hypothetically speaking of course. |

I think Florida fans are in a "win now" mentality. They might very well be willing to part with a #11 overall for Kessel. We parted with 2 firsts cause we wanted him so bad (hindsight hurts so bad right now). A #11 for a "star-scorer" isn't bad when you're goal hungry.
Dunno who the prospect/roster player would be.
Who'd you grab with #11 overall? - DavidSuzuki
At 11 I'd try to grab Zacha or Crouse if he falls that far |

Tough to call. Nash was a different situation, a great player who never had a team around him, always gave his best effort and finally had enough of never having a shot at the cup.
Kessel has a history of long stretches without scoring, questionable effort, even more questionable attitude. I have trouble seeing much value with all of that surrounding him. If his contract was lower and had only a year or two remaining on it I’d be more inclined to think he’d be worth taking a risk on, but with that contract and his history…I’d be very disappointed if he ended up going to the isles.

2 highly skilled, fast wingers
both perimeter players with a lack of commitment on the defense end with difficult personalities
yup, can't think of two players further apart. |

if you think Kane is a perimeter player then you're already too far gone.

Meaning the overall teams they play on are light yrs different. U wont notice Kane bc the team plays D, not the case in TOR when everything is magnified |

fla may not want to trade the #11 at the home draft
maybe trochek (prospect), petrovic (young roster player), 2016 1st and 2015 3rd - Tumbleweed
Why would the leafs? |

nash shut down his last year in columbus; so no, he didn't always give his all.
he also goes long stretches without scoring. |

Kessel is still a great player though. He gets a bad rap because he plays for a terrible team since he has gotten here.
He still makes every player better when they play with him. And that includes JVR |

really? It's on the team and not Kessel? Because every mid season swan dive you guys have taken lately seems to coincide with kessel on a prolonged scoring slump
pretty sure you can't say it's one and not the other. |

No one is denying his skill, honestly I would take him on isles, the reason I don't want him now is bc of the contract. It be a diff story if isles had many bad contracts, but they don't, if u get my point? |

I don't want him for his attitude and how lazy he looks when he's not scoring. He looks like he has no motivation half the season and that's the last thing I want on my favorite team |

I liked this article. You made an arguement about Kessels value that had some merit, though left out a few things. You didn;t actually propose trades... good move as that would have been fishing for posts and caused keyboard riots. overall a solid piece. |

In fairness, its not all Kessel, its poor management of constructing a team. If they had better defensemen and stopped the puck more, Kessel wouldn't be the reason |
