Chocolate is one of those things where if somebody doesn't really care for it or actively doesn't like it, I kind of think of them as not quite human.

Did I miss a ton of people attempting to troll today? I don't feel like reading 88 pages worth to see especially when the best comments will probably be deleted.

The butt hurt comments about Babcock today have been have been pretty chocolatey.

You should hear Detroit sports radio. Living here has been pretty funny today. All of the sudden Babcock wasn't that great and underachieved with a great team. They're better off without him.

Another installment of anybody affiliated with the Leafs is automatically not good or not as good as they once were.

People are jokes.

An overpaid coach to lead an overpaid captain and an overpaid star winger.

In Windsor cause of work and it's been fun! Last week it was a different tune, praising the coach and what not and now it's just hate. Pure hate. It's hilarious. Not a fan of either team but I still dont get how people are surprised a free agent coach went to the highest bidder. Just makes sense when you look at it.

And hell, Detroit get more for him than we got for Sundin, Grabovski, Kulemin and MacArthur combined....

All I have to say, is, thank you Leafs, for your investment in the best of what is available at a particular position. I am currently feeling more proud to be a fan, and it's a nice feeling.

I'm happy for the leafs. They were due for a break!

Enjoy having a great coach!

- robin_steele264

I'm happy for the Leafs as well. That franchise deserves a bounce to go their way, if anything because they have passionate fans. I'll never have sympathy for the Floridas or Arizonas of the world, who have pitiful fair weathered fan support.

Having said all that...I secretly ( or not so secretly)wanted them to hire Dallas Eakins, but that was so I could enjoy him as a comedic figure, not a Horror.

Meh. Nothing like the delicious Butthurt comments we got when we won the lottery. But I get what you're saying, and my advice to you is to enjoy it. It really is fun when other teams fans are jealous. Babs is a great coach, but this will be a new experience for him.he had a good young team in Anaheim and a great veteran team in Detroit, Toronto is neither, but at least he has a tonne of time to turn it around.

just out of curiosity... anyone knows what the impact of some recent Toronto moves on revenue sharing is? (Thornton-Clarkson trade, signing Babcock to a 6.25m salary, still paying lots of ex-staff, ex-scouts etc..).

Are all these expenses included in the calculations for revenue sharing? (I assume they are).

If so, TML actually do not lose that much by having more expenses; whether you pay an extra 2million a year to Babcock, or whether you pay part (half or more?) of that to the revenue sharing pot (which then gets distributed to other teams, making them financially stronger) is a trade off that probably will always fall in favor of paying the extra 2million to the top coach.

If Toronto pulls off another few of these moves, the impact of the spending on revenue sharing model might become an issue for the league and some teams?

Note the word revenue sharing not profit sharing. Revenue is the total money brought in by the company.

Profit is Revenue minus expenses.

That should answer your question.

Regardless of the impact, it bothers me not. There should be some advantages to being a wealthy team that other teams should strive for. Now, don't mistake this for me patting The Leafs on the back, they merely are the oldest club located in the most populated part of Hockey mad Canada, and have done little to earn their reverence. But there should be advantages to those clubs that do a great job marketing, being a part of their community, icing a winner and creating a historical legacy.
