"I can't for the life of me see how Babcock can turn thumbs down on the Buffalo opportunity.

No other team can come close to matching Buffalo's offer to Babcock."

-Garth

- GardinerExpress

Well the Leafs matched them in terms of dollar amount and term probably so there's that.

Bruce. Looked to me like Stamkos was matched up against a pairing that isn't McDonagh-Girardi.

Going at it backwards. Hire a coach, then find a gm that will bow to what he wants.
- Iggysbff

a better strategy is too scoop up a couple guys that were fired less than a month ago

who cares if babcock came first. the new gm is gonna be part of a committee anyways

I didn't think for a second he was gonna end up in Buffalo, that comment stuck with me haha.

he went on to say something along the lines of great ownership, great prospects, great coaching, great city blah blah blah

Garf is acting like a jilted female......classic!

What Garf doesn't understand, is that the Sabres do have allot of good young prospects and talent, but what they don't have is tangible NHL ready talent. They're still very far away from being in any kind of contention. Their defense and goaltending is putrid and there's nothing left to trade to fill any of the holes. It's just the Edmonton scenario, all over again. A cast of great young players and no veteran savy to lead the way. At least the Leafs have assets, to parley into other assets and the money to buy talent, if need be.

"So, Babcock's agent took Buffalo's best financial offer to Toronto and the Leafs agrees to meet it.

All the more reason for Sabres fans to hate the Maple Leafs.

Greasy move, Mike."

-Garth

this is great

apparently babcock is the first guy ever to negotiate and use leverage to get more money!

Probably read the Lupul tweet about not needing windows in their Buffalo hotel room. The Sabres are a bedroom community team, of fans from southern Ontario near the border. Take that away and the team is no better then the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Example No. 3: while it was all DET or BUF talk yesterday, it was suggested this morning TOR not entirely out of picture.
- BoTtLePoLiCe

The Leafs are out, Bobby Mac changing his tune to drum up more hits and discussions for TSN.

Changing it up from yesterday.

-LeafMan

That was at about 10 this morning..

20% toronto ($$$)
0% Buffalo, because when was the last time a high profile guy willingly signed there

Tired of the gun fights and tire fires, in Detroit.....instead, in Buffalo, the gun fights and the house fires, in Tonawanda. Hummm.....which would you prefer, the pale glow of men standing beside a barrel fire, keeping their hands warm, or going to a Broadway play, in Toronto? Tough call there Mrs. Babcock....

All I know is the Leafs ain't getting Babcock, are stuck with Clarkson and can't trade Dion or Phil without retaining 40% of their salary.
