depends who they keep.

Phaneuf's as good as gone, and Kessel is likely out the door already.

Team's not going anywhere without those two.

In Wedgie's mind, I mean.

I want us to trade him...but I wouldn't be against keeping him. Maybe Babs can straighten him out..... My first choice is to trade him, no doubt..

And I still stand by that either Phaneuf OR Kessel are gone before or AT the draft.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: TOR not only NHL team interested in Boucher as head-coach candidate. Worth noting: DET/Babcock talked to Boucher about AC job last summer.

Relax and breathe, think clearly and logically. The answer is obviously no.

Seriously...do we keep these guys now? To see how it pans out? Dregs was saying it. Now I wonder. TBH, I'd keep Kessel. Sit that (frank)er down. Buy him a membership to Good Life. Put up banning posters at all McDonald's locations.

Trade Dion, Bozie, and Lupul (try to)

- MCharisma91

Kessel isn't going to suddenly change because of Mike Babcock... He is what he is man. The Leafs would do well to trade him for a high pick in this draft and just move on.

disagree.

2008 7th last
2009 7th last
2010 2nd last
2011 10th last
2012 5th last
2013....
2014 8th last
2015 4th last

we don't have more talent, we have always been bad. i can't understand why ppl say we are better than we finished. One year? sure. but not 7 out of 8 years. Team stinks, move on and start over

- clark_griswold

Which is exactly why the rebuild is actually farther along then you think. I can't wait for Babcocks first day with Gardiner, JVR and Kadri......and all the other underachieving young players. Kessel, Lupul and Dion can all go elsewhere though.

hockey players rarely (i would say never but very rare cases like Danny Cleary) change. babcock isn't going to make phil kessel start caring or playing defense.

Nope. I think that if he didn't buy in to the Shanaplan then they'd have not given him this money.
- lumlums

It's not a 3 year contract. This is part of, not the end of, the 'shanaplan'.

it's not farther along. it should be, but we have nothing to show for these low finishes.

i know you want the rebuild to speed up, but i think you are going to be disapointed

My off-the-wall prediction: Under Babcock, Kadri's work ethic improves and production explodes, and/or Gardiner's attention to detail improves and we all call his contract a steal.

Did I say prediction? I meant desperate hope

Curious. Why is Phanuef as good as gone when the coach that was trying to trade for him a couple months ago is now the leafs coach?

or eating properly.

Phil is awesome, he should get a good return. but his time is done here. the only way he stays is if he works hard in the offseason....which cox says he is.

Which is smart of Phil if he wants to stay.

i thought the rumor was Babcock snubbed it.

Either way its all rumor and shouldn't be use as a central argument.
