The U.S didn't win gold, so Eichel is bad

How can you compare Eichel, who actually has speed and quickness, to Getzlaf and Spezza, two of the slowest giant centers out there.
- JohnFergusonJr

Hes not bure fast. Hes a good skater (albeit akward). He shoots more than spezza , and isnt as physical as getz but still very strong. His playmaking is up there with those 2.

Thats how.

Magine Eichel ran out the clock on his sabres eligibility in school and europe and signed with the Leafs?

In the mold of Mike Modano..
Would you consider Modano a franchise player?

- PatC80

No I never considered him a franchise player.

Not as good as you seem to think he was. This whole "going toe to toe with Malkin" needs to come with a grain of salt. Malkin just finished a full season in the NHL, one round of playoffs, was clearly playing banged up but somehow Eichel was skaing circles around him like a demi-god.

Yeah, sorry, but that's a bad comparison because he plays nothing like either one of them nor is he the same size or style. Just look at all the things you said he doesn't do compared to those guys.

Provorov or Hanifin?
- JohnFergusonJr

Neither at 4 but I like Provorov a bit more, more physical.

I'm not going to change my stance about the Leafs needing a centre more than anything else, I've said it for four years now, this is their chance.

Depends on your definition of franchise player.

For years he was the face of the Stars franchise.

He is to the dallas stars. Arguably one of the greatest american hockey players in the history of the sport.

What are your qualifications for a player to be considered a franchise player?

Burmistrov will leave KHL for Canada. Maybe Toronto? Worth it?

Leafs hired Saginaw Spirit GM Jim Paliafito as director of player evaluation.

Did i say that? Wow. Dont remember. Simply he went to to toe. Any 18 year old going up against malkin, i dont care if malkin is drunk, is impressive

I'm willing to give out the franchise tag, but "Generational" is one that gets used too often for my liking.

Marner is a center.
- JohnFergusonJr

Yes I know. I was just reiterating my stance about how important it is to get that centre, it is imperative with this high pick.
