I hope that happens but I don't see it.

It may not... I'm not sure teams are lining up to trade for a fat, lazy difficult to market troll'ish looking player that only scores goals in bunches and makes 8 mil for the next 7 years?

Mike in Buffalo sabatoged the Babcock to Buffalo deals from within by chloroforming Pegula at the 11th hour!?!

I just learnt a potential issue that may have caused the last 4-5 years is that the core isn't good enough.

That can't be true. They nearly beat Boston a couple years ago. Unfortunately the advanced stats caught up with them in the last 10 minutes of the third period.

We aren't that far apart

It's easier to draft well at 1st overall than it is anywhere else, so no, we aren't that far apart.

Babcock went to Buffalo he was going to sign. Saw Garf lurking in the stands, lurking around corners , creeping around and it scared him off.

Easier, sure. But that doesn't mean you can't find the kind of pieces that make contenders with later picks.

thats never happening again

detroit was ahead of the curve when it came to euro scouting..now everyone pays attention to whats going on over there

both of those two would be first rounders EASY in todays NHL

- Dozzer

the Datsyuk and Zetterberg late round picks were good fortune - and subsequent patient development

if Detroit was so sold on either Datsyuk or Zetterberg becoming the players that they did... they would have picked them in the 2nd or 3rd round. Picking them in the 6th tells you that they didn't have the confidence in their ability to develop as being any higher than the guys they drafted above them.

I don't want Hunter to find a Datsyuk in the 6th round... I want him to draft the best players he can find with the greatest upside.. if the he does that at some point he'll get lucky just like Detroit did.

Maybe Connor Brown is that guy.

Babcock slept with someone's wife?

Buffalo just hired Uggie to be GM?

They just added the dragon roll to the sushi in the platinums?

You're killing me here, Leafsman!

If you actually take the time to look at Detroit's drafting, they've actually been pretty poop for the past decade or more:

http://www.hockeydb.com/i...aft/teams/dr00005492.html

And don't give me this crap about them being Zen masters and waiting for the 5th or 6th round.

Their strategy was to wait until the 7th round for Zetterberg, because they needed their earlier picks to take Jari Tolsa, Andrei Maximenko, and Kent McDonell?

They had 7 picks before Datsyuk. Jiri Fischer was a 1st rounder - 305 games. Let's not give them credit for this one - yeah I know, but still.

Ryan Barnes played 2 NHL games. Nobody else had a cup of coffee.

Seriously, take a look at Detroit's drafting for the past 20 years. It's more blind stupid luck than anything.

Kessel has value, pretty big value too. Washington might want him and they've got some great young guys they could give up for him too.

after watching the World's and seeing him play very well, and seeing how you really want to draft the high studs, do you still disagree with me? i'm referring to me saying i'd do:

kessel and the 4th

for

eichel

*disclaimer: in no way would buffalo accept this.

Pretty much just their spicy chicken really. But it's pretty damn tasty. I get it as an appetizer though. No chance in hell I go to Anchor bar without getting Wings

And back to the start we have come full circle. The people the Leafs have in place to find players haven't proven they can do so with later picks. I'm not doubting their eye for talent but in terms of proven ability to find guys in later rounds, they simple have not done it.

Add Futa to the mix and that changes significantly but as it stands the Leafs don't have 1st overall, they don't have guys who have proven they can find the superstars in the later rounds and they have a coach who will certainly coach them out of 1st overall in the coming years. Forgive me if I see that as a problem.

I think that was his point

A troll should be clever and original, not just showing up here every day crapping on everything to do with the Leafs or Toronto. That kind of stuff is beyond trolling it is just some sad and pathetic obsession.

Leafsman asked me to tell you to PM me with what it was.

He said it was very cool for you to do that, and that he likes my new haircut.

They haven't had a (frank)ing chance yet!

What part don't you get about this.

Anyway, I don't agree and I won't agree. Thankfully neither does leafs management.
